Rise of the Tomb Raider eGuide Weapons and Outfits

Handguns

Handguns become part of your arsenal during the Soviet Installation map. At first, these are loud weapons that reveal your position, but it is possible to get a Pistol Sight and a Pistol Suppressor. After that, Handguns become a viable assassination tool instead of being merely a backup weapon or something to use when you’re running low on ammo for your bigger guns.

You get the Revolver in the first part of the Soviet Installation map and can use it throughout the remainder of the game. It is outclassed by both other Pistols. The Semi-Auto has superior stats in almost every category and it also gets more upgrades. The Magnum isn’t as easy to use, but it has even more damage and also gets a ton more upgrades. Thus, the Revolver is really just an early game weapon unless you’re going for a particular achievement.

The Semi-Auto Pistol is a classic sidearm that you collect from Strongboxes. It doesn’t do as much damage as either of the other Pistols, but it still does a high amount of damage per second. You get many shots off while firing on your target, especially if you’ve upgraded the weapon. It’s slightly weaker as a sniping or ambush weapon, but it’s very good when you have to blow a single target down and don’t care about ammo or subtlety.

A refined Pistol that fires smooth and steady.

You get the Heavy Pistol from Strongboxes later on in the game. It’s a deadly gun that is harder to work with in the middle of a firefight. However, it’s excellent for taking out individuals even if they’re wearing armor. The high damage per shot conserves ammo and ensures that the first shot of an ambush does the most that it can.

Combine the Heavy Pistol with Hollow Point ammo for the best results. You get a huge amount of bang for your buck, and this lets you stretch your crafted ammo budget farther than it you used it with the Semi-Auto Pistol.
