Rise of the Tomb Raider Guide › Walkthrough › The Acropolis

Reach the Tower

Infiltrate the Ruins and Find Sofia

Lara witnesses Trinity activity as she arrives in this area. Stay concealed when the scene ends and start to line up your attacks against the Soldiers ahead of you. There are half-a-dozen Soldiers in the area, but they’re in a couple groups that aren’t close enough to support each other. Stealth attacks are extremely effective, either with your Bow or suppressed weaponry.

If a major fights begins, pull back around the large walls that separate the two portions of city from each other. You can’t be outflanked by the Soldiers this way, and it’s safer to pop out and pick them off without the threat of being overwhelmed.

Eliminate all of your targets and go through the western route into the next portion of town. Quite a few enemy Soldiers have taken over this route. Advance slowly and fight them in small groups. The targets are moving away from you, so stealth continues to be a powerful option. Alternatively, there are discarded Bottles around here, and Molotovs are a great way to tell people that they’ve made poor life decisions.

Walk toward your objective, and don’t be surprised when the ground gives way beneath your feet. Lara falls into a basement where two Soldiers are talking. They don’t hear you fall (or they simply assume that it’s just damage caused by the fighting). Either way, you get to jump them. Take the easy kills, because there aren’t too many more to be found in this area.

Sneak through the basement and crawl through a damaged wall as you follow the sound of more voices ahead. Three Soldiers are busy interrogating prisoners. Kill the entire group as quickly as you can and save the Remnant men from whatever fate awaited them. Fast headshots are reliable if your aim is quite good. Otherwise, take a free headshot and then back off for a slow, safer attack.

You rejoin Sofia once all of the Soldiers are dead. She and Lara have a short conversation.

Find the Ammunition Cache

Break through a wall in the basement, and drop into a shallow pool. A Mural is on the wall to your left. Jump up to the next ledge and search for a box with Grenades. Finding that, you can start to make Grenade Arrows!

Heavy Barriers Are

No Longer An Issue

Grenade Arrows destroy blockades, even if they’re made of metal. Multiple secrets from earlier parts of the game can be uncovered now that you have these.

In combat, Grenade Arrows are amazing against Armored Troopers and Shieldmen. Fire behind the Shieldmen to score instant kills, and attack the Troopers directly.

Search for a Relic (Deer Charm) beside the box of explosives, and see if you need any of the other crafting items in the room. Climb to the top of the area and look through a damaged window. You spot the barricade that the Remnants want destroyed. Equip your Grenade Arrows and blast the obstacle to shreds.

Lara gets back outside after a short cutscene. Follow the path toward a new Base Camp (Riverside Landing), and rest there. Loot a Document from a box beside the camp as you leave.

Run to the top of the path and use damaged beams to cross over the burning wreckage beneath you. A Document is in the middle of the walkway on the other side of the beams.

Shimmy along the remainder of the collapsing walkway and jump to a stone platform. Search for a new Relic to the left of where you land.

Run along the stone path and loot minor items from the fallen combatants you pass. There are a couple of dead birds as well. Use another Grenade Arrow to destroy a barricade at the end of the road, and duck through the opening you made.

You discover a fight! Remnant fighters are being attacked by Trinity men, and you’re caught up in the action. Take cover and use something fast and accurate to take out the targets that come forward. A couple enemies stay on the bridge above you. The rest come down for close quarters action. Expect many grenades to come your way. Give ground if/when that happens, and try to eliminate the forward attacks before going after the guy who hangs back with his ludicrous supply of grenades.

Search the left side of the yard for a Strongbox with an Enhancement Tool. Get that, blow open another barricade at the end of the yard, and proceed.

Attack Trinity to LureOut the Helicopter

It’s a running firefight as you advance. More and more Trinity Soldiers try to stop you. Climb the steps into the next street, but retreat if you need to lure out any of the melee combatants that come forward. It’s easier to eliminate them when none of their ranged allies can fire into the fray.

Ammunition and Arrows are littered all over the road, so restocking is not an issue. Get whatever you need, and plow through the Soldiers.

There are more troops ahead, in a larger plaza. Pull back if you start to feel overwhelmed, and use healing items to restore yourself. Otherwise, push to the end of the plaza and watch a brief scene with the Trinity helicopter.

Defeat the Trinity Forces

After the chopper is gone, take a moment to look around the next yard. You find Coins and a Document (Missing). On the right, there is also an Archivist Map that reveals Documents and Murals.

There is only one way forward. Run toward the site of the helicopter crash and finish off any men that are nearby. A Document (First Winter) is near the exit, on the left.

A Defender attacks in the next room. You got your Grenade Arrows recently, so consider trying out one of them against these well-protected targets. Fire the Grenade Arrow behind the Defender’s feet, and watch the guy splatter without any fuss.

Run to the end of the corridor and crawl under a broken doorway. Three Soldiers are talking in the next room, and you can decide when to start the engagement. But beware, there are going to be over a dozen enemies in the ensuing battle, and stealth is only an option for this first trio. It’s going to get scary.

Trinity has a platoon of Soldiers to send your way in the first portion of this battle. Use the columns in the area for cover, and don’t try to use precision attacks. There are too many targets, and you need to score kills quickly. Rifles are great for this because of their lethality and large magazines.

The final stage of the attack is a duo; an Enforcer and a Defender team up against you. Switch to your Bow and ready a Grenade Arrow. Fire it in between the two and melt them! Give it a second shot if need be. These two aren’t fast, and that gives you time to prepare your best attacks.

Show Them Your Quality

Without a doubt, this engagement is brutal on Survivor mode. The waves of troops that attack come in quickly enough that it’s hard to keep them from getting attacks against you. Even worse, they aren’t stupid; they try to fan out and attack Lara from the front and both flanks. If you give them that opportunity, you will die. Without any cover, even one of them can sauce you faster than you can heal.

To prevent this, you need to take out at least two attackers from each trio almost as soon as they hit the ground. On the regular difficulties, Rifle attacks are good enough to do this. On Survivor, you need those headshots. Use your Bow, aim well, and switch to specialty Arrows every time there are multiple Soldiers close together (which often happens as they enter the far side of the room). You won’t have time to craft new Arrows, but that’s fine as long as you save one or two Grenade Arrows for the Defender and Enforcer at the end of the battle. Use your Fire and Poison Arrows first, and fire the standard Silent Arrows whenever you’re attacking a solo target.

If someone gets around to your flank, charge them while switching to your Shotgun or Rifle. Blow them in half immediately and use their cover as your new position. This isn’t ideal, but it’s better than being outflanked and slaughtered. Take a moment to heal while the enemies reposition.

Also, our favorite way to start this fight on Survivor is with three Bow headshots against the first trio. It’s very doable at close range, and they don’t react quickly enough to stop you. If nothing else, it’s pretty awesome to watch.

Sofia talks to Lara once the fighting calms down. She gives Lara a Wire Spool to help with her advance, and explains about a cathedral that Trinity is searching for. That’s your next major objective.
