Make Your Way to the Heart of Kitezh
Walk through the eastern passage into the Path of the Deathless, but look for a small side branch that leads up a hill. Follow that to discover an Archivist’s Map.
Beside the central path, to the left, is a ledge with a Document (A Broken Man). Follow the route through the area north and then northeast as you go through a small cave and up to a wall of ice. Climb the wall and get to the top, but hang along the handholds while a huge force of enemies passes by. These sure aren’t Trinity people, but they’re just as frightening if they catch you.
Shimmy to the left and pull yourself onto a snowy ledge. Try to make it up the next wall, but there’s a collapse and Lara falls down to the bottom of the area.
Gather any minor items you find on the way forward, and climb onto the stonework to your right when you reach the huge chasm. Jump as high as you can go, and move left across the handholds at the top. They take you to an ice wall that doesn’t break apart under your Axes. Climb to an iced-over bridge and cross that. It’s a good thing that Lara has amazing balance, because that doesn’t look safe at all.
Jump onto the lips of a statue ahead and move left along the stonework. The Hall of Guardians Base Camp is on the next ledge, and you’re almost there.
After a short rest, take a tiny ledge along the left side of the area as you watch the army marching across the way. The land opens a bit more, and a cubby on the right has a Document (Escape).
Move left and vault across to the next section of wall. Climb to the top and then things don’t go that well. Hit the melee button when Lara gets grabbed by one of the Deathless Guards as she gets onto the walls. Smash him with your Axes again and again until you find a weak spot in his armor.
Lara falls to the ground and is soon surrounded by more of the Guards and their Archer supporters. All of these targets are well armored. Shots to their chests do very little damage. You want to get them with explosions, headshots, and melee attacks (as long as you’ve taken skills to improve their damage against armored targets).
The Greek Fire urns in this yard are wonderful for wounding or killing Deathless attackers. Shoot those while trying to keep your distance from the main force of men that come after you. Use the walls on the right to break line of sight against the Archers, forcing them to give up their positions and advance on you. That gives you time to fight off the Guards without having to deal with everything at once.
There aren’t any more hidden items until much farther into the level, so you can proceed with greater speed now. Move east toward the next objective.
