In Hollywood, under a small water tower at the west end of Hollywood Blvd, where the trolley tracks loop for a turnaround.
The Letter
Just north of the Crossroads of the World in Hollywood. From Selma Ave, climb the first set of stairs on your left to reach the hidden film reel on the second level townhouse porch.
Brute Force
In Hollywood, just above the first “L” in “Hollywood” on the in-game map. Find the short dead-end road west from Schrader Blvd. The film reel is on the sidewalk between the end of the short residential road and a public football field.
Nightmare Alley
Find the two-story shopping area, just north of Franklin Ave in Hollywood, near the Ivar Ave intersection. Enter the alley on the west side of the shops. The film reel is at the end of a narrow walkway and beside some dumpsters. Look below the captain character on the Capt’n Saltee potato chip billboard.
Where the Sidewalk Ends
On the ground behind the large column at the entrance to The Palladium theater on Sunset Blvd, between Vine St and El Centro Ave. Currently on the marquee: The Big Sleep and The Lady From Shanghai.
Gilda
Behind the Circle K gas station in Hollywood at the intersection of Cahuenga Blvd and De Longpre Ave. Look on the ground, between two large palm trees.
In a Lonely Place
Find the Hawaii Mini Golf course on El Centro Ave in south Hollywood. The film reel is on the eighth tee.
Odd Man Out
On the back porch of this turquoise bungalow in the neighborhood off of St Andrews Pl (located at the end of the “D” in “Hollywood” on the in-game map).
The Night of the Hunter
Find the south entrance into the Hillside Motel’s courtyard. Then look on the ground in the northeast corner of the motel’s pool.
The Spiral Staircase
In a small park beside Samuel’s Delicatessen, off of Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood. Look in the grass near a birdbath.
The Woman in the Window
In a subdivision off of Lemongrove and Wilton Pl. Look on a picnic table in a central courtyard amongst some “modern” homes with blue, orange, or green trim.
Sunset Boulevard
In a courtyard on Melrose Ave. Look on the ground by a tree in front of a small strip shop.
The Narrow Margin
Find the brown stucco mansion with a red tile roof on the corner, then enter the driveway from the east side. The reel is on the ground by a garden fountain behind the detached garage.
White Heat
On the second floor walkway of a two-story apartment building between Mariposa and Alexandria Avenues. To reach the walkway, climb the set of stairs on the south side of the two-tone green building.
Crossfire
Find the Southwestern Motors filling station on the corner of Melrose and Heliotrope Drive. Head between the station and the adjacent All Purpose Mechanical Repairs garage to approach the outer wall of the L.A. Speedway where a transfer trailer is parked. The film reel is in front of a side door.
M
On the ground next to a see-saw in the small backyard of a white, one-story home. Look for the nearby two-story green house (it’s much easier to spot) in the neighborhoods between Clinton St and Rosewood Ave.
Thieves’ Highway
On the counter of Joe’s Drive-In Diner on Maplewood Ave. The reel is beside the register, near the main entrance.
The Killers
In the northwest corner of the construction house at the corner of 1st St and the main southern entrance into the Elysian Fields housing development (an unnamed street).
The Lady From Shanghai
On the pitcher’s mound of a baseball field in Wilshire.
The Third Man
Find the park on Hoover St in Wilshire, then follow the ascending dirt path at the north end of the park to reach the overlook. Find the reel on the ground between the first tree and the row of park benches.
Shadow of a Doubt
Inside the small hangar at the Wilshire airport.
Laura
On the edge of a picnic table in a small Wilshire children’s park.
The Set-Up
Find the beige two-story house with blue trim in the neighborhood between Berendo St and New Hampshire Ave, just south of 6th St. The film reel is on the back porch.
The Killing
Find the large cathedral (First Congregational Church) on the corner of 6th St and Hoover St. The film reel is on the covered walkway on the west side of the church.
Night and the City
In the MacArthur Park pond, on the island/gazebo. The water is only knee deep, so just wade through to reach the reel.
The Big Clock
On the front porch of the white house (address 131) found on the winding, unnamed street between Grand View St and Alvarado St in Wilshire.
The Naked City
Find the two-story building on the corner of Bonnie Brae St and Beverly Blvd. This large, sky blue house with dark green trim is hard to miss. The film reel is on the lower, wrap-around porch on the east side of the building.
This Gun for Hire
On the wooden scaffold in a construction area. Use a car to smash through one of the entry gates.
Sweet Smell of Success
Under a shelter at the base of a deep building foundation; a construction project in a residential backyard.
Rififi
On the front porch of a modest aqua/turquoise home on the corner.
Murder, My Sweet
In an underground parking shelter. Find the stairs in a courtyard area between stores within the borders of Burlington and Beacon Avenues, and 9th and 8th Streets. Head down the stairs to the lower level and find the film reel next to the tree in the middle.
The Big Carnival
On the back porch of a two-story gray house near the corner of Figueroa and 9th street. The back of the house faces a small public parking lot with an attendant in a booth.
Mildred Pierce
This is the hardest film reel to find. When you go to the location of the map icon, you find yourself standing in the middle of a stretch of 4th Street with no film reel in sight. That’s because it’s under your feet. Enter one of two train tunnel entrances a few blocks away to the northwest (A) or southeast (B). Midway through, you’ll find the reel at a fork in the path.
Key Largo
On the side porch of Rancho Rincon house from “A Different Kind of War”.
Leave Her to Heaven
Enter the abandoned public pool from the east entrance, then follow the path to the right and around the building. This leads to a small yard, which can be seen through the fence from the street. The film reel is on the ground in this yard.
The Maltese Falcon
On the ground in the fenced lot behind Bakers, off of Grand Ave.
The Big Heat
At the top of the world’s shortest railroad. The top is a block northwest from Angel’s Flight on 3rd St in Central.
Angels with Dirty Faces
Go to the construction site on the corner of Spring and 2nd Street. The reel is on a wire spool table inside a small shelter on the raised scaffold platform that surrounds the site. Find the ladder to reach the upper tier under the platform on Spring Street. Climb to the top of the ladder and enter the shelter to the left to claim the reel.
Strangers on a Train
Find the Bell Systems Depot building at the end of a large corner parking lot (with a guard booth) on the corner of Main Street and 2nd St. Enter the half-wall walkway near the guard booth and follow it to the Bell Systems building. The reel is on the covered walkway.
Touch of Evil
On the rooftop of the Los Angeles Theater on Broadway. Run around the block to the alley on 6th St that leads to the back of the theater. Look for the L.A. Theater marquee on the back wall near some stairs. Climb the pole in the corner (to the right of the marquee), then ascend the ladders to the rooftop. The reel is toward the front of the theater.
Out of the Past
On the ground, in the middle of the large, shadowy interior of the trolley station.
The Asphalt Jungle
On the walkway where tracks converge, at the end of the shelters on the train platform.
Pickup on South Street
Inside Union Station, on the gift shop counter on the right.
House of Bamboo
Enter the Western Iron Works factory by driving through the parking barricade arm on the south side. Continue into the factory, then climb up the catwalk stairs on the left in the rear of the building. At the top, turn right to find the film reel.
Scarlet Street
On the ground in an alley nook off of Palmetto St.
Detour
On the tracks between two unhitched railcars, by a train terminal shelter near Bay St.
Notorious
On the floor, inside an open office inside a lumber warehouse. From the easternmost road in LA, follow the dirt path to the warehouse, then enter through the southern opening and find the office on the right.
Double Indemnity
Follow the easternmost street in L.A. north from Olympic Blvd to reach a military base on your left. Crash through the barriers in a car, then drive behind the first large building on your left. Follow the sidewalk around to the fork, then continue to the right. The film reel is on a table in what appears to be an outdoor military firing range.
Body and Soul
Hidden on the lower level of the 7th Street bridge. Drive down into the flood control channel below the bridge, then find the stairwell inside one of the bridge supports on the west side of the channel. Follow the stairs up to the first level. Just past the vagrants, you’ll find the film reel on the right, along the north edge of the bridge.
Gun Crazy
At the eastern end of 1st St in Central LA, follow the trolley rails as they veer right off the street and come to loop around a small water tower (adjacent to a much larger water tower behind a brick wall). The reel is on the ground, in the shadow of the small water tower.
