The notebook is automatically updated with Person(s) of Interest (P.O.I.), Clues, and Locations instantly as they are discovered. Some clues are given automatically at the beginning of a case after your captain explains the case to you. The notebook also keeps track of the captain’s case objectives and contains the questions to ask suspects during interrogations.
People
A Person of Interest (P.O.I.) is usually any name learned during the course of an investigation. They’re all new people to you. Everyone is suspect. As you learn more information about a P.O.I., the notebook automatically updates their file.
Clues
Clues become evidence when entered into the notebook, but not all clues make it in there—only those pertinent to the case get inked. Sometimes you uncover more information and a clue is simply updated. This evidence is essential when accusing someone of lying during an interrogation.
Locations
Locations are added when one of these events occurs: crime happens, you discover actual addresses, suspect names another establishment or residence. Once these locations are written in your notebook, you can select them to set a destination. This allows you to follow a flag blip on your mini-map to that location. You can also take advantage of fast travel by letting your partner drive.
Some locations may have a “?” beside them. You cannot select these locations as destinations. You must first find the address. Getting on the nearest phone or gamewell and calling R&I usually solves this problem.
