L.A. Noire eGuide Basics

Intuition & Rank

“Intuition” is a selectable option in your notebook (Intuition is not part of The VR Case Files). Selecting this takes you to the Rank page. As you progress through the game, you earn experience for performing certain tasks like collecting Film Reels, acing interrogations, or discovering Landmarks. All these things give you varying amounts of experience, which in turn contributes to Rank.

There is a maximum of 20 Ranks. Each level is achieved by filling the Rank gauge with the requisite amount of experience points. Reaching key Rank stages unlocks Outfits and Hidden Vehicle locations on the map. You also earn one Intuition point each time you increase your Rank.

Using Intuition

You can hold up to five Intuition points during a case. One point can be used for these purposes: “Remove An Answer” during an interrogation, “Show All Clues” when on the crime scene, or “Ask The Community” to view the answers with percentage of popularity. On the next page, we provide details on each of these options.

Remove An Answer

One Intuition point can be used to “Remove An Answer” during an interrogation with a suspect. You have three answer choices: Good Cop, Bad Cop, or Accuse. Taking away one of these improves your odds of choosing correctly.

Ask The Community

You can also use a point to “Ask The Community”, which allows you to view the answers in order of popularity as chosen by those players logged into the Rockstar Social Club (Ask the Community is not part of The VR Case Files). You must be connected to Social Club to view these stats on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Show All Clues

While at the crime scene, you can open the notebook and choose this option to reveal the remaining clues at the scene, indicated by magnifying glass icons on the mini-map. Note that some of them may not necessarily be key clues that end up in your notebook.
