Attention to detail is mandatory to climb the ranks of the police department. This includes being thorough at crime scene investigations, observantly collecting clues and statements, and most importantly, being sharp and firm during interrogations.
Crime Scene
You must thoroughly search crime scenes to find all the clues that can be used to undeniably solve the case. The important ones enter your notebook automatically. You can review these clues at any time by accessing the notebook. If you’re ever confused about what to do next, ask your partner for a tip. He may suggest where to go next or even tell you to find a phone to call R&I. Of course, you can also read this guide whenever you need a nudge in the right direction.
Collecting Evidence
A distinctive melody plays while investigating the crime scene. When that music stops, you’ve either walked away from the relevant zone or you have found all the clues.
If the music stops abruptly, then you’ve wandered off the crime scene, maybe unwittingly. If the music ends with a crescendo and chiming, then you’ve found all the clues — as long as Clue Music is set to Auto in the Pause menu.
To find clues, thoroughly explore the entire crime scene and stop near anything that produces a chime from the soundtrack or a vibration from the controller. Press the Investigate button to pick up the possible clue.
Examining Objects
Manipulate the lifted object in Phelps’ hand, looking for writing or other marks to determine if it’s important to the case. If so, the controller may vibrate for even closer examination. Hone in on the vibration to make it strong enough to trigger a new spot of interest.
This often triggers a zoomed view or prompts you to perform another number of actions, like flip a page or lift a secret compartment. When you find something interesting by fingering through book pages, confirm the point position to unlock even more clues from text or illustrations.
