Equipment

At first glance, the stats gained from equipment don’t look like they matter for much. What they are, really, are seeds. Through Aptitudes, Weapon Mastery, Monster Mastery, and leveling individual items up in the Item World, a character’s equipment eventually forms much of his or her combat potential. By the end of the main game, that handful of points from a new piece of armor can turn into thousands.

Legend

HP: For equipment, this is the points added to the character’s maximum HP when the item is equipped. For consumables such as Flan, this is the base amount of HP restored when the character uses the item. This caps at 999,999,999 on normal mode.

SP: For equipment, this is the points added to the character’s maximum SP when the item is equipped. For consumables such as Sake, this is the base amount of SP restored when the character uses the item. This caps at 999,999,999 on normal mode.

ATK: The number of points added to the character’s ATK stat when the item is equipped. This caps at 99,999,999 on normal mode.

DEF: The number of points added to the character’s DEF stat when the item is equipped. This caps at 99,999,999 on normal mode.

INT: The number of points added to the character’s INT stat when the item is equipped. This caps at 99,999,999 on normal mode.

RES: The number of points added to the character’s RES stat when the item is equipped. This caps at 99,999,999 on normal mode.

HIT: The number of points added to the character’s HIT stat when the item is equipped. This caps at 99,999,999 on normal mode.

SPD: The number of points added to the character’s SPD stat when the item is equipped. This caps at 99,999,999 on normal mode.

Move: For every point in Move, a character with this item equipped can move one panel farther during combat.

Jump: For every point in Jump, a character can hop one decimeter (dm) higher, allowing him or her to get over higher obstacles. Jump only covers vertical leaps, and no amount of Jump will allow the character to hop across a pit or chasm.

Range: The item’s range, given in panels, with a basic attack. This does not improve the range of Special Skills or spells.

Crit: The chance, in a percentage, that the user will deliver a critical hit with attacks or Skills.

Counter: The points added to a character’s Counterattack stat when the item is equipped.

Price: Where applicable, this is the price of the item at the Rosen Queen Trading Company before the discount from the player’s Customer Rank. For items that are not conventionally available for sale, an estimate of the item’s base price has been given based upon the item’s sale value or its going price at merchants in the Item World. That price will vary widely in practice due to the items’ quality and the number of Innocents present within them.

Description: The in-game text that describes the item.

All stats from equipment stack additively with the character’s inherent stats from his or her level and job.

Items marked with an asterisk (*) in the following tables do not have a common- or rare-quality version. They are only available as legendary items, so those stats are included. If you’re wondering why there’s such a big power jump between the 39th and 40th weapons on a table, that’s why.

Other than those, all items in this chapter are listed as if they’re the common versions, with no Innocents or upgrades whatsoever. To get an idea of what their stats are if upgraded to rare or legendary quality, multiply the given primary stats by 25% or 50%.

The Swords, Spears, Guns, Bows, and Axes towards the bottom of the list are “fun” weapons, with wholly different stats. These are difficult to get hold of, but if you can find them, you can use them as comedy options to reskin your real weapons or utilize the unique Innocents found inside each one.

Fists

It may seem as if Fists are a bit light on stats compared to other weapons, but this is a compensatory measure for their continuous attacks. A character with a Fist has a base 50% chance of landing multiple hits on an attack or Counterattack, up to a limit of six per action. Thus, a Fist user may not hit as hard with each individual blow, but the chance for multiple strikes more than makes up the difference.

Swords

A Sword can be used for its raw power, its array of multi-target Weapon Skills, or as a hybrid weapon for a character who relies on both spells and melee, such as the Magic Knight.

Bows

A character with a Bow is designed to stand behind your offensive line and contribute mostly via Cover Attacks, pelting enemies with attacks of opportunity. Your designated archers (or Archers) benefit in equal measure from ATK and HIT, so emphasizing one too far over the other can be a problem in the long run.

Axes

Using an Axe is a commitment to damage. It has very little range compared to other weapons and even its higher-end Weapon Skills are difficult to use, but between its passive DEF reduction and its high chance for Critical hits, an Axe will almost always leave a mark. You’ll likely want to use equipment that helps to compensate for the SPD loss, however, or the Axe’s wielder will take a number of hits that he or she shouldn’t.

Books

As per RPG tradition, one of the most dangerous weapons in the game is ... something that isn’t a weapon at all. A character with a Book doesn’t get the same benefits to his or her spells that a Staff user does, but Books are the only weapon that consistently provides its user with three stats: ATK, DEF, and INT. A Book’s basic attack functions off the average of the user’s ATK and INT, and can do a surprising amount of damage as a result.
