Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness eGuide The Item World Charts

Charts

We’ve put it off for long enough. Now it’s time to get into some serious, hard-core number-crunching. Here you’ll find all of the charts, data, and raw arithmetic you need to plot out your path to Disgaea dominance ... or alternatively, you could probably use them to stun a yak. There are a lot of charts.

First, let’s handle the characters you’ll be controlling while playing Disgaea D2.

Most of the monsters and enemies you fight are mechanically identical to the characters you can create for your own use in the Dark Assembly. This is why the enemy data in the walkthrough may have seemed like it was a little bare-bones: you can use this section to figure out raw stats per level for just about anything you’ll fight over the course of the game. As for the handful of truly unique antagonists, you can find their stats at the end of this section.

Base Stats

These are the stats the character has at level 1, before any modifications are applied.

Base Movement Stats

These are the character’s base Move, Jump, Throw, Crit, Counter, and elemental resistance stats. Unlike the main eight statistics, these stats do not improve on their own. You can raise them using equipment, Senate proposals, buffs, and some Evilities, but they do not go up as you level.

Weapon Mastery

Every humanoid character enters play with a preset rank with the eight types of humanoid weapons. This rank determines how quickly the character earns Weapon Mastery experience, and thus how fast the character accumulates Weapon Skills and bonuses with that type of weapon.

In-game, this rank is listed as a grade system going from E to S. It’s listed numerically here to show off some of the otherwise invisible math that governs Weapon Mastery. As you’ll see as you read through this section, several jobs have odd numbers in a particular Mastery, and knowing the hidden math lets you figure out how to apply Mastery bonuses from apprenticeships or Reincarnation.

  • E = 0–4
  • D = 5–9
  • C = 10–14
  • B = 15–19
  • A = 20–24
  • S = 25–35

Since monsters do not have Weapon Mastery, this section is omitted on their pages.

Evility

Every character has at least one Evility, which is a passive buff granted by the character’s job. These become available right at level 1. You can give characters a second Evility with the Demon Connect system. Once a character’s Evility has been taken, it will stay gone until the character Reincarnates, at which point he or she will either reacquire his or her original Evility or be able to pick a new one from his or her class’s standard list.

Skills

Many Special Skills are inherent to a character or a job, and are learned at a particular level. This will tell you what a character learns and when.

For jobs that do not have any inherent Skills, such as the Valkyrie or Martial Artist, this section is blank.
