The Rosen Queen Trading Company is back again, ready and willing to make a fortune off you. After you clear Battle Basics 1 in Episode 1, its kiosk in Laharl’s Castle opens. Arum sells weapons and armor and Inakia sells consumable items like candy, soda, and Fairy Dust.
The gear offered by Rosen Queen is always of common quality and, unlike equipment found in the field, does not come with any Innocents. A product bought from Rosen Queen is thus a perfect baseline version. What you’re really getting for your money at Rosen Queen is convenience and necessity, as it lets you get what you want when you want it, rather than being at the tender mercies of a random number generator.
Product Rank
As you progress through the game, the Rosen Queen Trading Company gradually acquires more inventory, as reflected by its Product Rank. At the start of the game, this is a flat zero, and Rosen Queen only has the cheapest and thus worst gear for sale.
Every time you clear an Episode in the main game, Rosen Queen’s Product Rank goes up by one, which unlocks three better weapons for sale of every type, and usually includes new armor, accessories, or consumables. You can improve this once per Episode by passing the More Expensive Stuff bill in the Dark Assembly. This costs 30 Mana and, if it’s successful, bumps the Product Rank up by one. This gives you access to higher-quality weapons and armor. If you have the cash to pay for the upgrades, this can give you the power boost you need to get through a tough stage.
When you clear the Final Episode and reach the Post-Game, your Product Rank will end up at 10, and you cannot pass any additional bills to improve it. By taking on the toughest challenges in the Post-Game, you can quietly unlock Product Ranks 11 and 12. You will not be informed that this has happened; the shopkeeper in Laharl’s Castle will simply update his inventory without further comment. At Product Rank 12, Rosen Queen sells the second-best weapons in the game for a base price of 300,000,000 HL each.

To get the best weapons and armor in the game, you’ll need to use specific weapons and armor to create dungeons in the Item World. No matter what you do, the Rosen Queen’s inventory tops out at second best.
Customer Rank
The fine merchants at Rosen Queen have put you on their preferred customer plan, perhaps because you are, as far as we know, their only customer. At the beginning of the game, your Customer Rank is zero. As you spend cash at Rosen Queen, your Customer Rank improves, which affects the price you pay for goods and the cash they pay for whatever you sell to them.
| Money Spent | Customer Rank | Discount |
|---|---|---|
| — | — | 0% |
| 2,500 | 1 | 3% |
| 17,500 | 2 | 8% |
| 80,000 | 3 | 9% |
| 240,000 | 4 | 12% |
| 840,000 | 5 | 15% |
| 1,440,000 | 6 | 18% |
| 3,990,000 | 7 | 21% |
| 10,240,000 | 8 | 24% |
| 16,240,000 | 9 | 27% |
| 23,240,000 | 10 | 30% |
| 33,240,000 | 11 | 33% |
| 47,240,000 | 12 | 50% |
This may seem like a lot of money, but by the time you’re a few hours into the Post-Game you should be pulling in enough cash to reach Rank 12 without too much effort. It’s not worth buying throwaway high-end weapons and armor just to get your Customer Rank up, but it does take some of the sting out of your more expensive purchases.
Item World Branch
Using some of the billions of HL that you and Laharl have paid them over the years, Rosen Queen has branched out into serving the needs of the living-inside-items population. They have a branch office set up on Innocent Island, which is a safe zone in the Item World that you can find after clearing every 10th floor. You can also find one of their vendors on an occasional Bonus Island, encountered randomly as you’re traveling between floors.
Rosen Queen’s rules work a little differently in the Item World. Rather than its usual inventory, you’ll be offered a selection of rare goods, which often includes items that Rosen Queen usually does not carry. This is randomly generated and unorganized but can include accessories like Orbs or Emblems, rare-quality weapons and armor, and items that are used in the Dark Assembly to bribe or incapacitate Senators. Unlike the terrestrial branch of Rosen Queen, the merchandise sold in the Item World branch contains Innocents.
As the clerk will tell you, shopping at Rosen Queen in the Item World is a one-time offer. Once you close the shop window, you cannot reopen it to buy or sell more goods from that vendor. She’ll only reopen for business if you descend 10 more floors and find her again on a new Innocent Island, and at that point, she’ll have a brand new inventory.
Since the Item World shop is a Rosen Queen affiliate, all purchases made from it affect your Customer Rank and enjoy the same benefits.
The Toy Machine
It’s easy to miss since it doesn’t advertise its existence the way the other castle features do, but the Prinny-shaped gadget on the Rosen Queen countertop by Inakia is a Toy Vending Machine. It accepts HL in exchange for randomly determined prizes, which can range from cheap equipment to rare Potions and Serums.
You can choose one of three options for the Toy Machine: Regular, Expensive, and Most Expensive. These represent the three dials on the Toy Machine and the price you must pay to spin them.
The Toy Machine, as you might expect if you’ve ever tried to get exactly the toy you want out of one of these things, is a gamble and a cash sink. Most of the possible prizes from the Toy Machine are weapons, accessories, and consumable items that you could just buy from Rosen Queen. However, you can also luck out and get rare-quality versions of the same items, or you might get any of a handful of accessories or consumables that Rosen Queen does not carry, such as Muscles, Orbs, or stat-boosting Serums. Items that you get out of the Toy Machine can also contain Innocents.

The one reason to keep throwing money into the Toy Machine is for Save Icons. These are labels for your saved games that you can change between in the Settings menu. You start the game with Save Icons for Laharl, Etna, and Flonne, and if you luck out at the Toy Machine, you can find up to six more for a total of nine. Collecting them all unlocks the aptly named Save Icon Collector Trophy.
To even have a chance of getting a Save Icon out of the Toy Machine, you must have progressed past a certain point in the story and you must spin the appropriate dial. Doing so gives you a 1% chance of getting a Save Icon instead of one of the usual prizes; that is, to have any shot at receiving Lady Laharl’s Save Icon, you must have cleared Episode 4 and you must be spinning the Most Expensive dial.
