Splatoon eGuide Zone 5

Stage 26: Octoling Onslaught

If you’ve competed on Saltspray Rig during ink battles, this stage should look familiar. But there have been some alterations, making for a more linear progression. Before dropping down to this low area, pause at this ledge and wait for an Octoling to appear below. You’ll have a much easier time splatting the Octoling from this elevated perch. Once the Octoling has been eliminated, drop down and grab the Inkzooka—this can come in handy later when you confront the Elite Octolings.

This Inkrail is the only way to reach the level’s Sunken Scroll. But before activating and using the Inkrail, eliminate the Octolings in the immediate area, particularly those on the high ground. If you’re struck by enemy ink while riding the Inkrail, you may fall into the water below. So eliminate all nearby threats before making a move for the Sunken Scroll.

Sunken Scroll

Follow the path beyond the Inkrail to reach this crate, containing the Sunken Scroll. But before grabbing it, ink the surrounding pathways. After retrieving the Sunken Scroll, you come under attack by an Elite Octoling. By inking your surroundings, you greatly reduce the Octoling’s mobility, giving you a clear advantage in the fight.

Upon entering this area, you come under attack by an Elite Octoling, indicated by the seaweed growing out of her head. Instead of going toe-to-toe with this challenging foe, ink the side of this tall stack of shipping containers and swim to the top. From this perch you can easily take out the Elite Octoling by spreading ink with your Hero Shot and Splat Bombs. Once the Elite Octoling is defeated, a second one attacks—hold this position to confront this threat. When the area is clear, use the Gusher to reach the Zapfish.
