If your team can secure the central platform at the middle of the stage, you stand a good chance of holding out for a victory in Turf War. However, don’t neglect the other areas of the stage, including the territory near your team’s spawn point. Glance at the GamePad from time to time to ensure the area around your base is covered in your team’s ink.
The fight for the central platform can often become a distraction, luring teammates away from the game mode’s primary objective, which is coverage. So while everyone rushes to the central platform, look for opportunities to ink the perimeter of the map, including the area near the opposing team’s spawn point.
Expect heavy fighting on the central platform. Even if you secure the central platform, you’re not safe from attack. Watch out for incoming Splat Bombs and Suction Bombs. Opponents can even swim up the sides of the central platform and take you by surprise. So don’t forget to look straight down—opponents gathered at the base of the platform can be difficult to spot.
Roller-based weapons aren’t as effective on Blackbelly Skatepark due to the numerous curved surfaces. If using a roller weapon, focus on the flat areas of the stage where the roller can spread the optimal amount of ink. When it comes to covering curved surfaces, swing the roller to splat ink along walls and curves.
Be careful when moving through the perimeter half pipes. Opponents may be hiding behind the walls between the half pipes. Consider tossing a Splat Bomb or other sub weapon ahead before moving through these narrow chokepoints.
