In Turf War, both teams charge toward the center, often leading back-and-forth battles. In an effort to gain an edge in the center, use the automated sweepers to gain the high ground, placing Squid Beakons atop the central shipping containers. Beyond the center, monitor the battle’s progress on the GamePad and look for opportunities to flank your opponents. Try sneaking past the enemy team’s spawn point to gain access to their perimeter elevated paths. Inking these areas late during the match may just give your team the territory it needs to secure a victory. If you can’t reach these areas directly, arc your ink over the ledges or use Ink Strike to spread ink over a wide area.
Sometime before the match ends, make sure you spread ink around your team’s spawn point. This is a relatively large area and is very easy to ink and maintain. But the area is also easy to overlook during the heat of the battle as teams rush to the center. In close matches, having this area thoroughly inked may just be enough to push your team over the edge, eking out a victory.
Maintain control of the two elevated paths near your team’s spawn point. Not only do these offer a safe way to reach the stage’s center, but they’re also large chunks of territory—make sure they’re thoroughly inked before the match ends. You can also use these elevated paths to fire down on the center of the stage. It’s not a huge height advantage, but by aiming high, you can arc your ink over impressive distances. Holding this high ground is also vital for protecting the central lower path leading out of your team’s spawn point.
The automated sweepers patrolling the center of the stage mop up ink. So once a sweeper has made a pass, follow closely behind with a fresh coat of ink. You can also ink the sides of the sweepers and swim up them, just like a wall. Standing atop a sweeper gives you a nice height advantage, allowing you to attack from an unexpected angle. Or leap from the top of the sweeper toward one of the central shipping containers. Consider placing a Squid Beakon atop one of the shipping containers to give your team quick access to the center of the stage.
