You can’t make it onto Kaos’ ship. A force field is protecting the entire place, but there just might be a way to disable the defenses. Get into one of your Sky Vehicles , and then take off into the darkened skies. If you don’t have a Sky Vehicle you can skip the Sky Challenge by talking to Flynn.
This plan has several steps. The first one is easy; approach the massive geode near your ship and destroy five Geode Crystals. These are yellow crystal formations that are easy to see, hit, and destroy. Plus, they’re marked on your map. Collect Gearbits while you’re flying through the area.
As soon as you finish the fifth Geode Crystal, the planetoid breaks open. Fly into the core and take out seven Core Crystals next. Things are about to get even more exciting now! There are a number of enemy aircraft screaming into the area, ready to fight. Dark Gliders are as common as stars out here, but there are also Ebonbomb Airbuses as well.
If you’re trying to get through this swiftly and safely, focus on the Core Crystals as soon as you can to bring them down and get out of the core quickly. People who’d rather get more from the fight can pull back and take out the aircraft so that they have time to scoop up Gearbits before leaving.
Once you take out the last Core Crystal, a passage opens. Take this into Kaos’ ship. Hold back on the throttle because there are large barriers that open and close. Wait to speed up until the barriers are just beginning to open; that way you don’t rush into them when they’re about to close!
The path on the left has a Red Toolbox , so it’s a good route to take when the corridor splits. Both sides are filled with a fair amount of Gearbits, so that’s fun stuff either way.
The level ends in the landing bay. Clear this by destroying four suspended cranes. Fighter cover is quite heavy, so you shouldn’t focus entirely on the cranes until you’ve gotten the enemy ships off your back.
Before finishing, scour the bottom of the landing bay for treasure. There are hundreds of Gearbits to collect without doing any work. Don’t skip them!
Once the landing bay is clear, you get credit for this challenge and land to begin the next chapter.
