There are two ways to improve your vehicles permanently: upgrades and Mods.
Upgrades
If you provide them with enough Gearbits, Sharpfin’s lads will upgrade a vehicle’s weapon and shields. There are five upgrades for each, and each upgrade costs an increasing amount of Gearbits. The costs for the upgrades are different depending on the vehicle. Upgrading your vehicles is vital for racing success against experienced human opponents and when you tackle Villains in special race modes.
Mods
Mods are the primary way to customize Vehicles. There are always Mods in Red Toolboxes found throughout the Land, Sea, and Sky Vehicle sections in the Adventure. Mods are also earned through completing Race Modes.
Use the blueprint screen for a preview of what statistical changes occur when mods are applied to a vehicle. While playing as a SuperChargers Skylander, speak to Sharpfin’s crew to swap active mods on your vehicle. You can also swap Mods on the fly during Land, Sea, and Sky Vehicle sections in the Adventure.
