LEGO Jurassic World Guide Handheld Hub Areas

Innovation Center

When beginning the game, you are taken into the first Jurassic Park level. Once you complete it, you are taken to the Innovation Center. This serves as the main hub area for the game and there are several things you can do here. In addition, the Innovation Center connects to all of the other hub areas. There are two floors in this area with staircases on the left and right.

Movie Hubs

The ground floor of the Innovation Center has gates that allow access to each of the four movie hubs. At the start, the gates to Jurassic Park and Jurassic World are unlocked. You can enter those hubs and begin playing the nine levels for each of those movies. In order to unlock the gates to The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III hubs, you need to earn some Gold Bricks. Each time you play a level, you can earn Gold Bricks. You get one for completing the level, one for earning the True Survivor award, one for each of the two fossil pieces, and one for the Red Brick, Amber Brick, or Minikit. Therefore, you can earn up to five Gold Bricks per level.

Each movie hub is divided into three areas. After completing the first three levels of a movie, you can then access the second area. Complete those three levels to then access the third area with the last three levels. Within each area is a level access terminal that is used to get into and play the missions.

Collecting Minikits during the levels only unlocks them. You must go to the store and then purchase the Minikits using studs. Once you’ve purchased a kit, you can then place your kits onto pedestals in the movie hub areas. This allows you to decorate your hubs with the collectibles you’ve found.

Hammond Creation Lab

At the back-center of the ground floor of the Innovation Center, you can find the Hammond Creation Lab. Here is where you can go wild with DNA and create your own dinosaurs. To use the lab, you must first unlock some dinosaurs. Do this by finding Amber Bricks in the levels. There are three Amber Bricks for each of the movies. Get them all and you have access to a total of 12 dinosaurs.

When beginning the creation process, select a custom dinosaur slot. Then select a dinosaur to use as the body. Ten different dinosaur bodies are available. Once you have a body, you can then change the tail, the body part (the structures on the back of the dinosaur), the head, the skin color, and the pattern.

The body part and the colors do not affect the abilities of the custom dinosaur. However, the head and tail carry the DNA and abilities of the dinosaurs from which they come.

This becomes important when entering the dinosaur paddocks and you need a medium or large dinosaur with the attributes of different dinosaurs. Eight different abilities are available. However, the last ability, small, is associated with the body of the Compsognathus rather than one of its parts.

Dinosaurs and Abilities
Ability Description Dinosaurs
Roar Can break Amber structures T. rex, Indominus Rex, Spinosaurus
Spit Used to break black bricks that glow green Dilophosaurus
Charge Can break cracked rocks with their heads Pachycephalosaurus, Triceratops
Tail Strike Can break cracked rocks with their tails Ankylosaurus,Stegosaurus
Strong Can pull on orange handles Spinosaurus
Camouflage Can activate this ability to get past security cameras Indominus Rex
Raptor Can assemble bricks, pull on switches, and pounce onto raptor rails Velociraptor
Small Can move through small doors and hatches Compsognathus

Holoscape

The Holoscape is in the middle of the ground floor. Use the access pad to view different dinosaurs and hear interesting facts about them. When beginning the game, there are no dinosaurs to view. However, as you collect six fossil pieces for a dinosaur, you can then view them in the Holoscape. All of the pieces can be found in the levels you access from one hub area. For example, the first three levels of Jurassic Park contain the six fossil pieces for Velociraptor. Once you’ve collected all six, you can view this dinosaur in the Holoscape.

LEGO Shop

Head up the stairs to the second floor to access the LEGO Shop. Here you can purchase characters, LEGO kits, and Red Bricks that you’ve unlocked by playing through the levels and completing challenges. Some characters are given to you while playing through the levels—usually the story characters. However, characters unlocked by completing challenges must be purchased at the store before you can use them in Free Play mode. When you highlight a character, a list of their special abilities appears.

Dinosaur Paddocks Tram Station

The tram station for the dinosaur paddocks is in the center of the second floor. There are two terminals you can access. One takes you to the medium-sized dinosaur paddock while the other takes you to the large-sized dinosaur paddock.

Each paddock is a hub area in which you can complete a variety of challenges to unlock characters and Minikits. You need Gold Bricks to use these terminals, and until you unlock some dinosaurs by collecting Amber Bricks, there’s not much you can do at the paddocks. So get some levels under your belt and find those Amber Bricks before venturing into the paddocks.
