Dinosaurs

Dinosaur Abilities

One of the best things about LEGO Jurassic World is that you get to be a dinosaur, if you want. You do this several times as part of the main story, and you also gain playable dinosaur characters as you collect Amber Bricks. These bricks unlock dino DNA for the Dinosaur Customizers in the Visitor and Innovation Centers and at the Dino Spawners in the hubs.

As you might expect, dinosaurs can do some things that humans can’t. Here’s a quick rundown of the abilities you can gain when you play as one of these fearsome prehistoric creatures.

Ability Description
Roar Creatures with this ability can break both Amber LEGO and “dinosaur strength” objects.
Pounce Velociraptors can use raptor rails to leap great heights and access higher areas.
Scent Tracking Velociraptors can pick up a scent and follow its trail.
Charge Dinosaur can ram through cracked LEGO barriers using its head.
Tail-Slam Dinosaur can shatter cracked LEGO barriers using its tail.
Goo Spit Dilophosauruses can spit venom goo at black LEGO objects to destroy them.
Rope/Vine Slash Velociraptors can slice through LEGO vines.
Flight Pteranodons and Dimorphodons can fly.
Swim The Mosasaurus can swim.
Dino Strength Some large dinosaurs can destroy large LEGO objects.
Quake Very large dinosaurs like the Apatosaurus and Brachiosaurus can stomp and break “quake LEGO” objects—i.e., cracked ground sections.
Camouflage Indominus Rex can use camouflage to move stealthily.
Tiny Access Compsognathus (or Compy, for short) can move through special tiny passages called “Compy Tubes.”
Dino Switches Some dinosaurs can bite and pull special wall switch-handles to activate mechanisms.

Playable Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs are categorized as Small, Medium, or Large. You can select only small dinosaurs (base or custom) from your character menu, but you can select dinosaurs of any size at the Dino Spawners in the hub areas, including all of your custom dinosaurs.
