World 8-2
There’s a 1-Up in the Block directly above the spring. Break the Block to the right of the 1-Up Block to have it drop down to your level. If you’re not Super Mario, you must follow the 1-Up to the right until it falls off of the row of Blocks.
There are two ways to clear these pits. The first is to stand near the left pipe and make a running jump over the second pipe. When Mario lands, immediately make another jump from the second tiny flat.
Another way is to get down on the first tiny flat and make a running jump over the pits. No matter which way you choose, timing and the length of your jumps determine your fate.
World 8-4
This castle scene is divided into five zones. Three out of the five do not lead to anywhere. Use the pipe to reach the next zone. Some pipes take you to the beginning of the stage, instead of letting you through to the next zone. This stage is truly a maze!
Use the map to find the path through this treacherous level. Note that walking past the B zone takes you back to A; walking past the C zone takes you back to B; and walking past the E zone takes you back to D. Choose the pipes shown on the map to go directly to the King of Koopas himself, Bowser!
Get on top of the pipe on the right and take time to observe the movement of the Hammer Bros. If they don’t throw their hammers while they jump, it’s a good time to make your move. Use a running jump to get behind them and quickly jump over the lava pit.
The only thing that stands between you and Princess Toadstool is Bowser! You know how to beat him—you’ve been training for this moment! Defeat Bowser and save the princess! You can do it!
