Offensive Scouting Report
- If you started QB Jameis Winston over Mike Glennon last season, you know you made a good decision, and it’s no different this year. Coming off of his rookie year, Winston now has his footing and is ready to lead the team.
- Run the ball with HB Charles Sims III whenever possible. Doug Martin is a better player overall, but Sims will see openings a little better and attack the gaps. Because of the defense you will be facing, this is extremely useful.
- Because of the transactions during the offseason, especially in the WR department, the Buccaneers will need to refocus on building their WRs again. The new additions like Adam Humphries, Donteea Dye Jr., and Kenny Bell are all young and can easily be shaped to fit the Tampa Bay offense rather well. Give them their own roles and upgrade them accordingly.
Defensive Scouting Report
- Zone coverage for the Buccaneers has gotten a little better this year, but you will still need to upgrade the entire coverage team if they want to keep some sort of momentum from last season.
- The Buccaneers have switched to an Attacking 4-3 defense, so adjust accordingly. This is another reason to upgrade the safeties and middle linebackers in your depth chart. Hold your ground and try not to be fooled by the play action fake because recovery will not be easy.
- Gerald McCoy will continue to be the anchor of the defense, and as he looks out for his rookies the team should be in good hands. They have a few players with excellent Shed Block ratings, which will make for a good blitz game as long as you don’t telegraph your plays.
SCHEDULE
Key Players
- Martin’s Awareness and Agility ratings are extremely high, making him a great candidate for some good yards this season.
- Run Martin outside as much as possible when running plays with him. Both his Speed and Acceleration ratings will beat most defenders. Stiff arm is his biggest strength, so if you’re caught while running him outside, use this tactic.

- Playing the safety game, the Buccaneers need a key player like Gerald McCoy to do what he does, which is make tackles. With a solid backfield, McCoy can hold the rushing game on his own.
- McCoy is an intelligent defender who will recognize the play faster than most players. Leaving him to his own devices isn’t a bad idea and should give you a good advantage.

- The Buccaneers made lots of great drafts in the offseason and Vernon Hargreaves III is definitely one of the best. Unless his Overall rating becomes a problem, use his speed and agility to cover the backfield and his man.
- Playing man coverage is not something that you should run very often with this defense, but being able to transition and switch between man and zone will be simple with Hargreaves on the field.

- Stocker is an all around great support player. He has an outstanding run block, which is a superb addition to his Acceleration rating, because opening the route could be the difference between a touchdown and nothing at all.
- Run Stocker across the middle with a slant for a quick toss because getting the ball in his hands for a short distance is always good for a few yards.
