Working with a playbook that fits your offensive scheme is one of the biggest ways to improve your game in Madden Ultimate Team. Determine if you are a run-first or pass-first player and how your current team is made up. If you pull a big WR and a strong-armed QB, switch to a book that has some great plays for your playmakers. If you have a specific playbook you like that is run-heavy, consider selling those players and investing in your offensive line and an elite HB.
Offensive 5
New York Giants
STYLES: Long Pass, Speed Run
KEY RUN SET: Singleback Ace
KEY PASS SET: Gun Trio Offset
The Giants’ playbook is excellent for players who have three receiving options and love to pass the football. Check out some of the new formations that feature players in the flex. This will make it easier to pass-block and give you the time you need to look downfield. Work screen passes into the mix to maximize your scheme.
Using formation subs at the play-calling screen is one of the keys to getting your playmakers good matchup advantages.
Offensive 4
Philadelphia Eagles
STYLES: Speed Run, Short Pass
KEY RUN SET: Gun Ace Twins Offset
KEY PASS SET: Snugs Flip
Philadelphia is an excellent playbook for gamers who want to pass the ball short to set up the run game inside. Drill the defense with quick throws to the outside to show them the flats must be covered. Once you get them thinking outside, mix in some inside zones to gash them up the middle. As long as you can handle shotgun formations, this playbook has it all.
The Eagles’ 23 shotgun formations are the most of any team; you must be confident from these formations to win!
Offensive 3
Seattle Seahawks
STYLES: Ground and Pound, Short Pass
KEY RUN SET: Gun Doubles Wing W
KEY PASS SET: Gun Wing Offset Wk
Seattle’s playbook has great versatility for running the ball, depending on if you prefer to run up the middle or outside. They also can succeed with running the ball from under center, pistol, and shotgun. Work on getting the opposing defense into tough alignments, and then use a mobile QB as a backbreaker to take the ball outside. You also have some good formations to take big shots downfield, but don’t risk it more than once or twice per half.
Seattle can use a power-rushing attack if you are committed to the ground game.
Offensive 2
Miami Dolphins
STYLES: Speed Run, Short Pass
KEY RUN SET: Singleback Wing Trips Open
KEY PASS SET: Gun Bunch Open Offset
Miami has some excellent spread-passing formations for players who love to use unique alignments. Call a diverse game plan to keep your opponent guessing which formation you will use next. You can keep using similar concepts over and over as long as they are coming from new formations. If you like this playbook, check out the Raiders and Vikings, too. You will have the most success with a mobile QB, so look for one in the Auction House.
The Dolphins’ playbook benefits from a great wing-style TE/FB who can lead-block and catch passes in traffic.
Offensive 1
New England Patriots
STYLE(S): Short Pass, Long Pass
KEY RUN SET: Singleback Tight Slots
KEY PASS SET: Gun Split Close Pats
The New England Patriots have some excellent formations for players who love to pass the football. If you have a big TE/WR, you will enjoy the options on the outside for iso matchups. This playbook also does a nice job working with a WR using RAC over the middle. Keep your completion percentage high and work on short passes to move the chains.
