Offensive Scouting Report

• QB Philip Rivers is your guy and your leader when you need him most. Rivers is consistent and always ready to take his team all the way. Build up the line and keep him safe in the pocket as much as possible where he can do his job.
• HB Danny Woodhead was second in the HB line up last season, but is not ready to take over as the primary back. Virtually matching Melvin Gordon last year in average yards per carry, resulting in three more touchdowns has proven that Woodhead is capable. Work on his Strength rating throughout the season and he will become a HB capable of shedding the best defenders.
• The Chargers have an arsenal of WRs that give Rivers plenty of opportunities in many different situations. Use Stevie Johnson opposite of Antonio Gates in the red zone to take advantage of the size across the field. Even with Malcom Floyd gone, Keenan Allen has great hands and the agility to match.

Defensive Scouting Report

• The Chargers have an excellent cornerstone in RE Corey Liuget. Not only is he solid against the run, but he will also make some sacks and deserves to play on passing downs. In the other two spots, start Tenny Palepoi and Darius Philon who can add major strength to the line.
• LB Melvin Ingram is a great finesse rusher, and just as predicted his sack numbers increased. As he continues his growth, he will only get better. In the middle, you have some solid pieces that are developing into valuable starters, so keep their confidence up.
• The Chargers rebuilt their secondary over the last couple of seasons and allowed themselves to play a balanced man vs. zone because their players can easily switch between both. The only issue is the size against big WRs, especially in the red zone. If a mismatch happens, just add an extra defender to the area.

Key Players

• Allen Keenan had an outstanding season last year and as Antonio Gates begins to take a position as the emotional leader, Keenan’s speed and awareness of the field has made him a star.
• He has the size to take control of the red zone, so matched with his ability to hold onto the ball be sure to look for him while in scoring position.

  

• Ingram is powerful and in charge of his sector. He will dominate most rushers in his line, especially if he sees the gap.
• Keep building his Strength rating and you may see some forced fumbles from this LB.

  

• Joey Bosa is big, powerful, and young making him a huge threat to any offensive line. If the offense is not covering the left side or you see a mismatch, it would be a good idea to take advantage.
• His finesse moves will take over the line, so be ready to use this and you’ll have a chance at the QB almost every time.

  

• McGrath has the size and acceleration to take over for Antonio Gates, but he may need a little more growth.
• Getting off the line is not a problem, so using him to run slants for a quick toss will get you a few yards, not to mention he can catch the ball if you throw it to him.
