Cleveland Browns

Offense

The Browns have a pretty versatile offensive playbook, with the ability to build schemes from under center, pistol, or shotgun. Your final scheme will vary heavily, depending on which players you find in the draft.

Key Formation

Gun Split Close Browns is one of the best formations in the game, especially for players who want to throw the ball. Look for a halfback who can catch out of the backfield, along with a big, safety valve-style tight end who will really help make this formation tough to stop.

Key Player

QB with 88+ Short Accuracy

Formations

  • SINGLEBACK: Jumbo, Ace, Deuce Close, Ace Pair, Pair Tight Twins, Bunch Ace, Doubles, T-Trips
  • I-FORM: Pro, Twins Flex, Tight, Tight Pair, Hulk
  • STRONG: Pro, Twins Flex, Tight Pair
  • WEAK: Pro
  • PISTOL: Slot Wings, Y-Trips
  • GUN: Split Close, Stack Offset Wk, Doubles, Y-Trips HB Wk, Bunch TE, Bunch Wk, Snugs Flip, Doubles Flex, Y-Trips Open, Trey Open, Empty Trey, Empty Trey Flex
  • WILDCAT: Trips Over

Effective use of play action and new rollouts will make the Cleveland offensive playbook much more successful.

OFFENSIVE Draft Targets

  • WR (SPD, CTH, RTE)
  • QB (PAC, SAC, ACC)
  • LT (IPB, STR, PBK)

Defense

The Browns’ defensive scheme is best with strong players built to stop the run on the defensive line. This means that the pressure will come from the OLB positions, especially if the secondary can stick with their matchups for a bit after the snap.

Key Formation

Nickel 2-4-5 is a crucial formation to optimize. If you can stay in this for most of the game, your opponent will be forced to make solid reads.

Key Player

CB with 85 Man Coverage

Formations

  • 3-4: Odd, Under, Over, Even, Solid
  • 4-4: Split
  • NICKEL: 2-4-5, 2-4-5 Dbl A Gap, 3-3-5 Wide
  • DOLLAR: 3-2-6
  • QUARTER: 1-3-7, 3 Deep

The longer your secondary can cover and even press the WRs, the better it is for your defense.

DEFENSIVE Draft Targets

  • CB (MCV, SPD, PRC)
  • MLB (SPD, MCV, PRC)
  • OLB (PMV, STR, BSH)
