Offensive Scouting Report

  • With plenty of additions to the offensive line, the team looks to protect QB Jay Cutler even more than last season. Because of the drop in the Offensive rating for his team, Cutler will need all of the protection he can get in order to make plays.
  • HB Jeremy Langford has stepped into the role of HB for this year and will make a great addition to the Bears’ offense. With a young new running back on the field, his speed and agility will be a great asset to the team’s rushing game.
  • As one of the best receivers Chicago has ever had, WR Alshon Jeffery has made his home in the offensive leadership. His speed and strength make him an easy go-to receiver as long as he can stay healthy.

Defensive Scouting Report

  • The addition of rookies SS Deon Bush and FS Deandre Houston-Carson will help the backfield to an extreme level. As the team continues to load up their pass coverage, these rookies should continue to grow and support their veteran leadership.
  • Keeping MLB Danny Trevathan as the central LB leader, he will continue to keep your defense together. Because of the 3-4 scheme, having the #6 ranked MLB in the league at the core of your backfield will make any QB hesitant to pass.
  • With the young new defenders coming in this year, veterans like LOLB Pernell McPhee will need to continue controlling the edge, but the newer 3-4 defense should help with that. Keep McPhee’s confidence high and use his power to force some turnovers whenever possible.

SCHEDULE

Key Players

  • Jeffery’s speed will make him an open target most of the time while his skill and persistence will give him the advantage even when he’s covered.
  • Throwing to Jeffery in the end zone is always a great use of his skill, even in traffic.
  • McPhee’s size and strength make most running games weaker. Use his strength to force turnovers at any possible moment.
  • Because of McPhee’s play recognition and awareness, he makes a great defender off the edge with his ability to take full advantage of the 3-4 defense.
  • With the loss of Ryan Mundy and Antrel Rolle, someone needs to fill the back field with speed and agility, and Bush is the guy for the job.
  • Bush’s zone coverage and agility will help him fit right in with the Bears’ defensive scheme. He will learn and gain experience quickly.
  • Khari Lee’s Overall rating is average, but his speed and agility are both deceptively high, giving him an edge on man-to-man defense.
  • Zach Miller is rated higher in all of the same categories where Lee excels, but when Miller is out Lee can serve as an excellent backup and may even surprise you with his performance.
