COREY COLEMAN (WR), CLEVELAND BROWNS
Corey Coleman has the ability to immediately become the quarterback’s favorite target, though there really are not any other options. Because of the limited weapons the Browns possess, he should receive the ball often. His ability to run the routes in the NFL has been questioned, but there is no denying this receiver’s skills. His speed and athleticism make him a good pick when you need another wideout.
Rookie 4
DERRICK HENRY (RB), TENNESSEE TITANS
The potential of Derrick Henry depends heavily on DeMarco Murray’s workload. If he gets enough carries, expect big yardage. With his big stature and quick speed, he has the capability to break big plays. He’s not the well-rounded back that Elliott is, but he is a beast when it comes to short-yardage runs. He could potentially take over the number one spot if things go well.
Rookie 3
STERLING SHEPARD (WR), NEW YORK GIANTS
This second-round choice fills a much-needed hole beside number one receiver Odell Beckham Jr. As defenses focus more attention on the star, Sterling Shepard should get plenty of opportunities in the pass-heavy offense. Despite his small stature, look for him to make an immediate impact with the Giants. Consider the newcomer in later rounds to bolster your receiving corps.
Rookie 2
LAQUON TREADWELL (WR), MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Laquon Treadwell was well-touted before the draft, but he ended up as the fourth wide receiver taken. He has the potential to be a big part of the Vikings receiving corps and may quickly become one of Teddy Bridgewater’s favorite targets. Starting opposite Stefon Diggs, Laquon is a big target for his quarterback at 6’2”. He uses this size to great effect, gaining valuable extra yards after the catch.
Rookie 1
EZEKIEL ELLIOTT (RB), DALLAS COWBOYS
Ezekiel Elliott was drafted fourth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft and the only running back taken in the first round. With McFadden out, Elliott becomes the obvious choice as the Cowboy’s number one. Put the well-rounded back behind Romo and a dominant offensive line and he has a chance to put up big numbers as a rookie. Don’t wait too long to pick him up, though, as he may be taken in the first couple rounds.
