Offensive Scouting Report

  • The Texans still need to find a long-term starting QB. Although they brought in Brock Osweiler, you should look for other options in the draft and free agency.
  • With the loss of HB Arian Foster, the Texans must look to Lamar Miller and see if he can pick up the slack. The team will need a new rushing leader and as long as he can stay healthy, there might be a chance for something great to happen.
  • DeAndre Hopkins has shown excellent skill and just needs a more consistent chemistry at QB to really take things to the next level.

Defensive Scouting Report

  • J.J. Watt had yet another amazing season last year with a total of 17.5 sacks. This should make life for his teammates easy on the defensive side of the ball. Keep moving him around to keep offenses guessing.
  • The LBs for the Texans are solid pass rushers off the edge and should continue to improve nicely. Build around Brian Cushing in the middle. That’s one spot that can’t afford to take an injury.
  • The Texans have the makings of a solid secondary, but lack a true identity. Try playing heavy Cover 2 early in the season and using shading to get the most out of your players.

SCHEDULE

Key Players

  • Hopkins is arguably one of the best WRs in the league and it would be surprising to see less than 1,200 yards a season from him.
  • Hopkins has everything you can ask for from a WR. Work on his route running and always keep an eye out for him to be your first option.
  • Watt is not only one of the best, but also one of the most versatile linemen in the game.
  • Continue to build your defense around him. He is locked up for the long term.
  • Work on Fuller’s Spectacular Catch and Catch in Traffic ratings and turn him into a major red zone threat.
  • Fuller could use a little more awareness on the field, but that may come from him being a rookie. Work on this a little and expect him to do well.
  • James is a smart player who is well balanced. Keep developing his zone coverage and find him some time on the field in quarter formations.
  • James can also be used as a returner on special teams if you need an option back there.
