Offensive Scouting Report

  • In the wake of Nick Foles being traded to the Chiefs, be sure to groom your new talent, especially rookie Jared Goff, to secure the QB position this season and in the years ahead.
  • The young combination of Tre Mason and Todd Gurley at HB will really take the pressure off the offense. Give the ball to the hot hand and go with Gurley for power and Mason for elusive moves.
  • Don’t let the speed and agility of WR Tavon Austin go to waste. Beyond special teams, Austin needs to have the ball in his hands once per half, even if you need to hand it to him.

Defensive Scouting Report

  • Look for DE Chris Long to continue to build this season. Otherwise, keep focusing on building the youth on the defensive line. You have plenty of talent locked up long term with Robert Quinn and Aaron Donald.
  • MLB Alec Ogletree is a solid defender in the middle of the defense, but look to build some depth behind him for the long term. There is a good amount of speed at the OLB positions that you can get creative with for a defensive scheme.
  • The Rams’ CBs are solid in man-to-man coverage, but the rest of your starters lean toward zone. This means the Cover 2 Sink might be a perfect scheme to try out against your opponents early in the game. E.J. Gaines and Lamarcus Joyner should be solid against most WRs.

SCHEDULE

Key Players

  • Gurley had a great season last year and as long as you continue to grow his confidence, you can expect big things this season as well.
  • Gurley should be your main back and play every down.
  • Donald had an excellent rookie season. However, teams will be more aware of his presence in the lineup now.
  • The depth of the defensive line is a real strength. Keep a rotation going to keep your players fresh.
  • Groom Goff as a possible replacement for Foles.
  • Goff is a balanced QB. If you focus on his short game, there’s plenty of room for him in your roster. Consider signing him for a long term contract soon.
  • Joyner is the best option for man-to-man coverage in the secondary, so sub him in for Cover 0 blitzes.
  • Mark Barron is the best run stopper in the secondary, but if his confidence slips, give Joyner a role on passing downs.
