Trolls are large enemies that carry a massive pillar. Their attacks are powerful, but slow. Take advantage of this by evading their strikes, and follow up with a combo. They are able to power up their limbs for Elemental attacks, but they are vulnerable to ranged attacks.

Grendel of the Ashes and Grendel of the Frost stand guard inside Týr’s Vault as statues. Swipe the wrong item, and they come to life to defend the treasure. Grendel of the Ashes’ resistance to fire is strong, and his attacks inflict Burning status. This makes him extremely vulnerable to Frost; counter with Leviathan.
The most feared member of the Stone Troll Tribe, Grendel of the Frost, is vulnerable to fire—making the Blades of Chaos the weapon of choice. His attacks add the Slowed status.
Both Grendels have the ability to use their totems to create rock formations that Blind nearby targets when detonated; use ranged strikes to eliminate the rocks. Refer to “The Black Runestone” chapter of The Journeyfor miniboss strategies.

A statue stands guard on the beach next to Helheim Tower. Once you collect the Black Runestone and defeat the pair of Trolls inside Týr’s Vault, the Death Eater wakes and patrols the length of the beach. The Troll’s massive size and pillar should be familiar after facing other Trolls. Similar to the Grendel brothers, when it smashes the pillar into the ground, small rock formations appear. These cause damage and Blindness when touched, so watch your movements carefully as you navigate the obstacles. Turn to the Lake of Nine Exploration chapter for more information.
