Tatzelwurm

Part reptile, part feline. Tatzelwurms burrow underground in order to close in on their targets or evade incoming attacks. Quickly hit this foe with an arrow or melee strike to keep it vulnerable to your attacks. The little monsters are easily launched, so if possible, finish them off with one combo.

Remain on the move if you lose track of the slippery foes to make yourself a more difficult target. Use ground-slam attacks to pop nearby Tatzelwurms out of the ground; follow up with a juggle combo to keep them from re-entering their safe zone.

Back away as the Tatzelwurm burrows your way and once it emerges from the ground, parry its attack to stagger it. At that point, use a juggle combo to finish it off.

In-Game Tips: “When Father throws his axe at a Tatzelwurm as it burrows towards him, it’ll pop them out of the ground.”

“Launching and attacking Tatzelwurm as they dig into the ground will stop them from burrowing for a short time.”

Cursed Tatzelwurm

A sac in the Cursed Tatzelwurm’s throat spits poison that’s deadly to the touch, so be careful not to step in it even if you dodge the initial spit. The poison spews out of its mouth before it spits, giving you time to ready your dodge.

In addition to avoiding the deadly poison, use the same tactics as with regular Tatzelwurms. Pop them out of the ground, or keep them from entering in the first place. If possible, juggle them with Leviathan to make quick work of them.

In-Game Tips: “Their spit is highly poisonous, even on the ground. Throwing the axe with R2 will freeze them and keep them from burrowing underground.”

“Attacks that slam the ground can pop nearby Tatzelwurm out of their underground burrows.
