Traveler

Travelers drop Traveler’s Grisly Trophy and Traveler’s Armor Shard when defeated. Deliver these resources to Brok or Sindri to craft a special armor set.

Traveler

The standard Traveler is equipped with durable armor and an enormous sword, and is one of the toughest enemies in the game. They’re relatively slow, and their attacks are telegraphed. It’s wise to always keep the Traveler in view and be ready to evade his powerful attacks.

Atreus should continue to pelt the Traveler’s tough exterior with arrows, while Kratos works in melee strikes between the enemy’s attacks. When available, use Runic Attacks and Rage Mode to weaken the Traveler. Eventually he begins to lose his armor, which makes Kratos’ hits more effective.

When a Traveler charges toward Kratos, dodge-roll out of range to avoid taking serious damage from his overhead slam or powerful sword swing. Remain alert for a possible follow-up strike. When he steps away from Kratos, keep an eye out for a flash of light at the adversary’s hilt—signifying an incoming thrust attack.

Watch for him to lift a magical rune above his head. A light axe throw can interrupt the attack. If it’s allowed to strike the ground, a shockwave emanates outward from the Traveler, causing serious damage as it hits Kratos.

Travelers have a devastating combo where they alternate between side strikes that can be parried and overhead slams that must be evaded. Evade back to avoid the former and to the side for the overhead strike. A well-timed parry can interrupt the combo, but be sure not to attempt this after the red flash.

In-Game Tips: “He is slow but very sturdy. We should doge his horizontal swings backwards and his vertical swings sideways and attack him in the time it takes to recover.”

“The Traveler has a magical rune. If we see him lift it in his hand, Father should throw his axe at it!”

Traveler Champion

With a huge shield strapped to his back, the Traveler Champion backs into his target with his massive sword dragging the ground. Therefore, you must wait for him to expose his vulnerable front side before attacking. Once he gets within range, he may perform a powerful overhead strike. Step to the side to avoid the attack, though watch out for a possible follow-up strike.

The Champion has a thrust attack that can cause serious harm. From his defensive stance, he slides forward, spins around, and lunges straight ahead—thrusting his sword into Kratos’ gut. This move has a long recovery, so dodge to the side and let him have it.

Just like the standard Traveler, the Champion carries a magical rune. If it’s lifted above the enemy’s head, fling Leviathan at it to interrupt the attack. Don’t bother attacking him during this move, as he’s invulnerable. If uninterrupted, he slams his fist into the ground, sending out a powerful shockwave that burns if not blocked.

If he rotates out of his backward stance, roll straight back if possible to avoid his 360-degree spin attack. Stay on the move, as he may perform a second spin or overhead smash. It is possible to get in hits with your axe when he backs up by throwing Leviathan in front of the foe, and then recall the weapon so that it flies through the Traveler.

In-Game Tips: “These Travelers must be a paranoid bunch, because they keep a huge shield on their back that will deflect any attempt to back stab him.”

“We’ll have to watch for him to turn and attack before striking him from the front.”
