Follow Lafayette through the arch and around the corner to the raised platform (35)—the same stage you saw earlier, where the Queen hangs in effigy. Your arrival triggers a nasty ambush!
Fight through the rebel ambush
Hurry forward to find cover behind the street barricades (36). The attackers include a rebel sniper in a window above the archway up ahead. After you take him out, a second sniper appears in the window next to it. Make snipers your priority targets! Then clear out the rest of the courtyard.
Now you have a choice of two ways forward. You can proceed through the archway or veer left through the open red doors of the Ferris and Wright hardware store (37). If you take the latter route, Galahad calls to Lafayette to “take the street.” Move through the store and climb the stairs to the second floor to find the pair of M84 Marksman Carbines (38) (dropped by the two snipers you took out earlier). Grab one and get extra ammo from the other. Look for grenade pickups as you move through the rooms as well.
When you emerge onto the building’s back porch (39), three more rebels move into position below and open fire. Use the brick railing for cover and eliminate the attackers. Then turn left on the street to find another grenade pickup and an ammo crate (40) just under the arch. Turn back and continue along the street. When you turn the corner you see a loaded cart (41) pushed to block the street passage.
Enter the open doorway on the left, climb the stairs, and smash through the boards nailed across the doorway (42) at the top. Then hop down through the shattered section of wall.
Be ready! The moment you land, two rebels emerge from the building ahead. The second one is a deadly shotgunner, so take cover immediately. Once you drop both attackers, a huge rebel assault begins from across the courtyard to the south.
This is the biggest battle you’ve faced so far. The rebel crew includes aggressive shotgunners and, later in the fight, some grenadiers (distinctive in blue coats with red scarves across their faces). Listen for voices calling “Grenade!” and keep an eye out for the glowing red icon that indicates a live grenade. Be ready to sprint away!
Things to try in this hectic fight:
- Use the M84 Marksman Carbine in the early going (assuming you picked it up after the first ambush). You can also find one in the nearby hut, which will respawn. Keep a good distance from attackers—a sniper rifle is a poor short-range weapon if you get rushed! A good place to set up a sniper post is at the windows inside the hut (45).

- Use your grenades whenever you see rebels clumped in one area. A well-placed grenade toss can quickly thin enemy ranks.
- Locate the three explosive barrels across the courtyard (marked with a “B” on our map). If rebels gather near one of these barrels, shoot it! A hit can inflict both blast and fire damage.
- Use Blacksight if confronted by multiple attackers, or you get overwhelmed by a rebel rush. Keep checking your Blacksight meter to see if it’s available for use. If so, remember to press
(the left bumper) to trigger the mode. Shoot and switch targets quickly! Don’t waste this valuable ability. - Set up in the nook behind the low brick wall on the lower level (46). The reason: you’re right next to an ammo crate! This is a fight in which you’ll likely expend a lot of ammo, so it’s nice to get ammo refills easily. You’re closer to attackers here, however, so you might want to switch from the sniper rifle to another primary weapon.

The attackers come in several waves, so don’t be lulled into thinking the coast is clear just because the courtyard is quiet. Wait until you hear Galahad say, “We need to keep moving and get off the streets!” Time to get back up to the rooftops.
Find a way to the rooftops
Join Lafayette at the back of the wagon (47) and press the button indicated. To push the wagon, move the left control stick forward. When it stops moving, hop into the wagon then up onto the walkway.
Climb the stairs, turn left into the hut, and cross the ramp into the next hut. There you find a drawing from the Illustrated Gazette sitting atop a box (48). Looks like rebel literature.
Exit the hut and climb up onto the red-tiled roof next to where Lafayette is standing. At the top, turn right and jump to grab the beam on the wall (49). Jump upward to the next beam and pull yourself onto the next rooftop to trigger a new scene.
