The Twelfth Day of October, 1886
Here we jump back in time more than a month to find Sir Galahad, of the Royal Order of Knights, emerging onto the rooftop balcony of The Waverton House in Mayfair, London. The view is stunning, with great airships hovering over city spires. His communicator crackles with a transmission from “Command”—the voice of Galahad’s mentor and friend, Sir Perceval, whose birth name is Sebastien Malory.

Perceval reports “multiple marks in Grosvenor Square.” He orders Galahad to rendezvous at the United India House with Lady Igraine and Lafayette and move to contain the threat. Then he asks if Galahad has the location in sight. Here, your first in-game directive—i.e., your current goal—appears at the top of the screen.
Identify the United India House
This is easily done. Simply use the right stick to look at the fountain and pillored entrance of the large building directly across the street below you. Note that you can hold in the
trigger to zoom in on distant objects or focus on nearby details.
Once Galahad identifies the United India House, Perceval asks if “Nikola” has provided armament. (He refers to Nikola Tesla, the engineer and inventor.) Galahad says yes, wielding his rifle, an Essex M2 Falchion. Move the left stick around to inspect the gun. Perceval suggests that the Falchion’s secondary ordnance should help. (See Fun Falchion Facts on this page.)
Perceval notes that you may be pursuing “bedlamites,” a 19th century term that refers to the mentally ill, and he calls for the use of nonlethal force whenever possible. From your starting point (1), turn left and walk around the corner to the marked door (2). Press
to open it and then enter the attic. Descend the attic stairs (3) to the house’s top floor where you get a new directive.
Meet with Igraine
Walk past the elevator shaft (4) enclosed in stained glass toward the next staircase, where a houseservant polishes the banister. Before you descend the stairs, follow the glowing icon to the desk in the corner. Press
to pick up a copy of London’s Morning Post newspaper (5). This is the first of many items you can pick up and inspect in the story. In this case, read the disturbing report of “Mysterious Disappearances in Whitechapel.” Then press
to leave the newspaper where you found it.
Continue downstairs (6) to find another inspectable item (7) on a table near the bottom of the stairs. Pick up the photograph and use the left stick to move it around then press
to turn it over. Text on the back indicates that this is a recent photo of the Wyndham Family, taken on July 20, 1886. Is this a clue, or significant information? In this case: no. Again, press
to replace the item.
Exit this room via the open doorway to see a repairman working on the elevator platform. This lift runs down to the street level, but it’s not working, so you’ll have to find another way down.
Turn right to find a glowing canister (8) on the front edge of a covered table, next to some luggage. This phonograph cylinder is entitled “Le Morte d’Arthur” and is one of 16 you can collect in the game. Approach until the button prompt appears then press
to snag the cylinder.
To hear the recording, press your PS4 controller’s Options button and select Archive. Here you can select any collected cylinder from the list, see a transcript of its recording, and play it, if you want. This first one is a reading from Le Morte d’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory (c. 1470) concerning Uther Pendragon and the original Lady Igraine. When the recording ends, Galahad automatically snatches up the cylinder.
Walk past the table through the next doorway into a sitting room. Exit the room onto the open balcony to bring up “Traverse Across” instructions onscreen. Approach the balcony railing, pressing
as you move. Galahad scales the railing and leaps across the alley (9) to the metal catwalk of a fire escape on the opposite building. Descend the stairs (10) until you reach the ladder. Press
when prompted to climb down the ladder. When you reach the bottom, press
to drop to the ground (11).
Here, Sir Perceval checks in to ask if you’ve heard any word from Lafayette, and you hear Lady Igraine respond. You see a man hustle through a door next to a Gibb’s Chocolate Bonbons sign. If you try to follow him you find the door is locked, but turn left to find another inspectable item (12) atop a garbage can tucked in a corner. This one is a playbill announcing several upcoming productions.
Turn left and head up the stairs, following the lane past a café entrance where a distraught woman and her husband speak with a local policeman (13). (You can stop and eavesdrop if you want.) Continue down the narrow lane past the butcher shop where a man struggles with asthma (14) as a constable reports that all medical personnel are currently unavailable.
Just past them on the left you find yet another inspectable item sitting on a barrel next to a display of fresh produce: an engraved pewter flask (15). After you put it back down, continue along the lane past the Quality Furnishings shop to trigger your rendezvous with Igraine (16).
