Rebel Declamation

As a rebel orator whips up anti-royal hatred from a stage with the Queen hung in effigy, Galahad and Lafayette try to blend in. But a rebel leader spots them. The Knights slip away to a nearby alley (11).

Head through the alleyway

The alley is very narrow, but Galahad and Lafayette can squeeze through just fine. As you slide sideways you hear an argument up ahead. A man yells at a young woman, wanting to know “who was the john?” (A john is a prostitute’s customer). When the man starts beating the poor girl, Galahad steps in to defend her. Be ready for a button prompt; tap quickly when it appears.

After disposing of the abuser, approach the woman (12) and talk to her. It appears she and a co-worker had an encounter with the dreaded Ripper the night before and her partner met a grisly fate.

When the conversation ends, move past the marked door on the left to the far end of the cluttered alley. Find the newspaper sitting atop the barrel (13). Pick up and examine the Greater London Dispatch. It features an interesting account of your Mayfair battle the previous day.

Now return to the marked door (14) where Lafayette waits for you. The door is locked and reinforced, so you must pick the lock to get in. Here’s how:

  • Approach the door and press . Galahad inserts his handy Stamford Lockpick tool in the keyhole. This gives you a kind of x-ray view of the lock’s internal workings.
  • Hold in to drive the air cylinder, which exposes the first of three tumbler pin positions. You can see the first pin as a ghostly white rod on a spring (circled in our shot).
  • Keep holding in then slowly rotate the right control stick until the vibration in your controller slows down. (If you toggled Vibration off in your game’s option settings, watch onscreen for the tumbler pin to be pushed upward and turn brighter white.)
  • When this happens, press to engage the pin. It clicks upward, out of the lock housing.
  • Now you have two more tumbler pins to go. Repeat the same process which each of the remaining pins to unlock the door.

Now you can turn the lock to slide the metal lockbars out of their slots. Open the door, enter the building, and proceed to the curtained doorway (14) to trigger the next scene.
