STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ eGuide Vehicles and Turrets

Ground Vehicles

Only three vehicles (all from the Galactic Empire) operate on the ground level: AT-ATs, AT-STs, and the Speeder Bike. The walkers are well-armored machines with high-powered weapons, but they are slow and cumbersome. AT-ATs automatically move along a set path in Walker Assault, while AT-STs control much like a soldier but cannot enter tight spaces. Speeder Bikes have little in the way of weaponry, but they make up for it in speed and agility. They can get you where you want to go in a snap.

AT-AT

Available game modes: Walker Assault

Type: Four-legged walker

Faction: Galactic Empire

AT-AT Abilities

Ability Button Description
Small Laser Cannon Left Ability Mounted on the sides of the head, this works best against quicker targets (like infantry).
Big Laser Cannon Right Ability Mounted below the head, this works best against tougher targets.
Orbital Strike Top Ability This artillery barrage rains destruction on a chosen location. Aim your shot until the blue reticle lines up with the desired target, and then fire.

The iconic Imperial walker is at the center of Walker Assault, a Multiplayer mode where the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire fight over two of the gigantic quadrupeds. The Imperial soldiers must protect the behemoths as they walk across the battlefield, while the Rebels attempt to take them down.

Playing for the Galactic Empire, a soldier must find the AT-AT power-up in order to take control of it. It moves on rails, so there’s no need to worry about directing it. Three weapons make it a menace to Rebel soldiers. A small laser cannon on each side of its head is mapped to the Left Card slot, while a pair of more powerful cannons, triggered by the Right Card button, is situated underneath the head.

The lighter upper guns are best used against quicker opponents, such as infantry forces. Save the large cannons for tougher targets like those pesky turrets. A view from above its head gives a great vantage point for the light cannons. The camera shifts below the head when the more powerful cannons are used.

An AT-AT’s guns are controlled differently than other vehicles. Pressing one of the Ability buttons simply chooses an ability. Press the Fire button to use the selected weapon. The fire rate of the cannons is relatively slow, but they are powerful. Mix up your attacks to take full advantage of its arsenal.

The AT-AT is slow and cumbersome, with a limited upper range when aiming the cannons. This makes it tough to take on the quick and agile starfighters. Rely on your aerial support for that, and concentrate your gunfire on emplacements and groups of infantry.

When using an AT-AT power-up, you are limited to 60 seconds in the cockpit, so make the time count. A meter at the bottom of the HUD lets you know how much time remains.

AT-ST

Available game modes: Overpower training mission, Supremacy, Walker Assault

Type: Bipedal walker

Faction: Galactic Empire

AT-ST Abilities

Ability Cool Down (Seconds) Button Description
Concussion Grenade Launcher 5 Left Ability This launches three grenades and works well against groups of infantry.
Homing Missiles 10 Right Ability This fires a projectile that homes in on a target.

An All Terrain Scout Transport is a bipedal walker equipped with a variety of armaments. A blaster cannon operates as the primary weapon, overheating when used for a long period without pause. A grenade launcher, equipped in the left slot, fires a volley of three grenades and is capable of wiping out a group of infantry. A homing missile, fired with a press of the Right Card button, can take down a starfighter as long as it has time to get a bead on the target. This makes it a versatile machine for destroying any target.

Watch the flight patterns of the starfighters, and note the best opportunities to take them down. Your homing missiles require a little time to lock on to their target. The moment a fighter appears in the distance is a great time to launch the projectile, giving it plenty of time to do its job.

The AT-ST is moved just like a soldier, even sprinting when you press in the left stick. It doesn’t take long to get the hang of things. Its armor stands up to infantry gunfire very well, but watch out for anti-vehicle turrets and attacks from above. This walker can be a force to be reckoned with, but beware of complacency, as you are still vulnerable.

Available in Supremacy and Walker Assault when siding with the Galactic Empire, the walker is a great asset in most situations. However, its inability to move through small openings does limit its usefulness in certain areas. Check out the Overpower training mission to learn all of its ins and outs. These vehicles join the attacking Imperial forces on Survival missions, giving you a great opportunity to learn their weaknesses.

Speeder Bike

Available game modes: Endor Chase training mission, Supremacy, Walker Assault

Type: Hover bike

Faction: Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance

Speeder Bike Controls

The Imperial Speeder Bike is available in Supremacy and Walker Assault, as well as the Endor Chase training mission. It is very agile and extremely fast, especially with the speed boost activated. A weak laser cannon offers a little firepower, but don’t plan on taking on an entire army. Although it is an Imperial vehicle, Rebels can swipe one for their own use.

Despite it being a ground vehicle, the Hover Bike is controlled more like an aircraft. The left stick acts as the throttle, and the right stick guides it left and right. Tap into its incredible agility by strafing and changing elevation, also controlled with the two analog sticks. Use the speed boost whenever you have a clear path ahead, though a cool-down time does limit its use.

As you drive the Speeder Bike, be careful of obstacles. Its blistering speed can get you to your destination in a hurry, but one overlooked tree can take you out even quicker. Work the throttle carefully, and keep your eyes on the road ahead as you navigate denser areas.
