Playable Characters

Darth Vader

Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, is notorious around the galaxy as the right hand of the Emperor and one of the most powerful beings in existence. Born as a slave and later trained to be a Jedi Knight, Darth Vader is extremely skilled with a lightsaber and a master of the Dark Side. He serves the Empire, leading an elite Imperial task force in the hunt for Rebels across the galaxy. Lord Vader works under the notion that it is better to be feared than loved, constantly reminding his inferiors of this belief.

Darth Vader is an extremely powerful melee character, hindered only by his movement speed. Vader cannot run, but he can make large jumps using his Force abilities to compensate for his poor agility. With his ability to deflect incoming blaster bolts and his high amount of hit points, anyone attempting to attack him head-on will more than likely be struck down. Like all playable heroes and villains, Darth Vader has three unique abilities that all have specific uses. When these abilities are used properly, Vader can become nearly unstoppable.

AbilityDescriptionSituation

Force Choke

Using his Force power, Darth Vader can render enemies defenseless by picking them up and choking the life out of them. Enemies not affected by the choke can interrupt this ability, so make sure that Vader is in the clear before picking up your target. If you’re successful, this abilityis a guaranteed kill against Rebel troopers.

Saber Throw

Darth Vader throws his lightsaber forward and hits everything within the throw range. The lightsaber is then instantly returned via Vader’s Force ability. Throwing his lightsaber is not Darth Vader’s most powerful ability, but it is his only ability with a long reach. Use it whenever your target is at mid range.

Heavy Strike

Darth Vader spins in a full 360-degree turn, using his full strength to take out anyone within reach. This ability is meant for that moment when Vader is surrounded by Rebel troopers and must get rid of them efficiently. Using this ability kills all foes in Vader’s immediate vicinity.

Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker, son of the legendary Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, is one of the most powerful Jedi to exist in the time of the Galactic Empire. Having a large part in the Rebellion against the Empire, Skywalker is full of passion and skilled with a lightsaber. Control this hero on the battlefield throughout Star Wars Battlefront to take down entire groups of stormtroopers and help the Rebellion.

Luke Skywalker has many strengths and just a few weaknesses that you should know about before controlling him on the battlefield. The Jedi is primarily a melee character whose strength lies in face-to-face combat, but he can create distance between himself and his foes if necessary by using his Force Push. With his 20 percent faster running speed, he can close the gap on a single enemy, thus controlling the battle however he chooses. With that said, Luke has three abilities, all with very different tactical advantages. Keep these effects in mind when controlling Luke Skywalker—using them properly makes you as effective as possible.

AbilityDescriptionSituation

Force Push

Using his Force power, Luke can send a wave of energy toward his target, dealing heavy damage and pushing the foe back some distance. Use this ability when you must quickly kill an enemy at a short distance or when you become overwhelmed.

Saber Rush

Luke lunges forward using Force energy and takes a wide slash at whomever is at the end of his lunge. Use Saber Rush when you need to quickly close a distance gap where foes are keeping Luke at range. This ability can inflict a great deal of damage if you judge the distance correctly.

Heavy Strike

Luke spins in a full 360-degree turn, using his full strength to take out anyone within reach. This ability is meant for that moment when Luke is surrounded by stormtroopers and must get rid of them efficiently. Using this ability kills all enemies in Luke’s immediate vicinity.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett, the bounty hunter in Mandolorian Armor, is a battle-hardened warrior who only works when the money is right. Fett is one of the most respected bounty hunters in the galaxy and was trained as a young child after leaving his home of Kamino. Because of this, Boba Fett does not work for cheap, although some special circumstances may be possible for targets like the smuggler Han Solo.

Fett is primarily a ranged character and should always be treated as such. Because of his jetpack, the bounty hunter can traverse almost any terrain and normally escape from a bad situation whenever appropriate. Avoid getting close to any enemy attackers. Even though Boba Fett is a tough, experienced warrior who can brush off a few hits, he is still vulnerable to short-range combat and should avoid those situations at all costs.

AbilityDescriptionSituation

Wrist Rocket

Boba Fett has a highly explosive wrist-fired dart that has a wide explosive range and can be fired from any location. The Wrist Rocket is great for taking out multiple opponents at once or firing at enemy heroes who can reflect blaster bolts(like Luke Skywalker).

Flame Thrower

Fett’s wrist-fired flamethrower launches a stream of short-range fire, useful for affecting multiple enemies within range. Flame Thrower is designed to use when Boba Fett is stuck in a situation that he may not want to be in. You can also use it tactically as a touch-and-go move. For the greatest efficiency, land from flying through the air, catch a few foes on fire, and take off.

Jetpack

The jetpack attached to Boba Fett’s back allows him to jump and reach most heights or fly over the battlefield eying his prey. The jetpack is one of the most important abilities that Boba Fett has. Use it to get anywhere quickly and to escape death by going where most characters cannot.

Han Solo

This human smuggler from Corellia has a bad attitude and loves getting paid, so much so that he has gained the skills and has the instinct to get him out of any situation. Han Solo is known for aiding the Rebellion and assisting Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa in their efforts to crumble the Empire.

Han Solo is another primarily ranged character who has a problem with enemies directly in his face (albeit no fear of them). Han’s blaster is one of the most powerful blasters in the game and should be treated as such, but it is a single-shot weapon that requires precise accuracy. The smuggler has a few abilities that make his blaster pistol even more powerful. If they are combined in a specific order, they can take down even the most powerful characters in a matter of seconds.

AbilityDescriptionSituation

Rapid Fire

Han Solo can rapidly hip-fire his blaster pistol without it overheating. The ability to fire the already powerful blaster pistol as quickly as you can pull the trigger gives you a great advantage when Han must attack a large number of enemy troopers.

Lucky Shot

This incredibly powerful blaster shot deals an area-of-effect explosive damage, effective against both opponents and vehicles. Lucky Shot is essentially your tool in every situation. Using this ability each time its cool-down wears off aids you significantly.

Shoulder Charge

Solo brutally charges shoulder first straight forward, taking down everything in his path. Use this ability to get Han out of tight situations, or if you see a group of stormtroopers that is just too close together. The Shoulder Charge runs over everyone in Han’s path for a short burst.

Leia Organa

Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker’s twin, was adopted by Senator Bail Organa directly after birth in order to split the twins and hide them from their father, Darth Vader. Because of her adopted parents, she was named Princess Leia and later became one of the heads of the Rebellion. Leading her Rebel troops into battle, she has become highly respected amongst her new people after her home planet was destroyed by the Death Star.

Princess Leia is fully a support character and uses her leadership on the battlefield to heavily assist her fellow troopers. She is slightly more powerful than the average trooper and an ace with a blaster rifle. Use her abilities to support your team and lead them to victory.

If Leia Organa is on the battlefield, there is a chance that two friendly players can spawn in as the Rebel Honor Guard. Armed with the A280, these special characters are harder to kill because they have an added health pool and they can deal more damage. More importantly, if you or your teammates are spawned in as one of these characters, stay close to Leia and protect her as these characters will also earn more points to your score and sticking together will keep them alive longer. In addition to these bonuses, each Aldreraan Honor Guard character is equipped with a fixed set or Star Cards; both the Smart Rocket and Homing shot are in your arsenal granting you the ability to deal with both vehicles and infantry creating a somewhat unstoppable force.

AbilityDescriptionSituation

Supply Drop

Leia drops a Power-up Star Card for the friendly troopers. The Power-up Star Cards are some of the most powerful abilities in Star Wars Battlefront, and they are available to all troopers. Use this ability whenever friendly troopers are nearby because they can protect Leia and attack their target with greater ease.

Enhanced Squad Shield

Leia deploys a Squad Shield even more powerful and protective than an average Squad Shield. Drop this Enhanced Squad Shield when Leia and her squad are stuck in a highly defensive position and need extra protection. Another use for this ability is to dictate your own battlefield, creating a zone that you determine.

Trooper Bane

Leia fires highly powerful shots that take down troopers in one shot and can also fire straight through shields. Use this ability when there is a large group of troopers in front of Leia or if you must shoot through Leia’s shield to attack anyone on the outside of it.

Emperor Palpatine

Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, is the Dark Lord who became the first emperor of the Galactic Empire and took Darth Vader as his apprentice. An extremely powerful Force user, Emperor Palpatine is known by most in the galaxy and highly feared.

The Emperor is primarily a support character who specializes in helping his fellow villains. Because of his mobility and charging abilities, Palpatine can get to his teammates rather quickly. He should normally travel with troopers as bodyguards.

If Emperor Palpatine summons himself to the battlefield, you know things must be serious. When he is in play, it is possible that two friendly players will spawn in as shock troopers. The Emperor’s shock troopers are equipped with the E11, and two Star Cards, the Smart Rocket and Homing Shot granting you the ability to deal with anything the Rebel scum can throw at you. These special characters are more difficult to kill than normal troopers as they have an added bonus to their health pool and they can deal more damage. More importantly, if you and your teammates are spawned in as one of these characters, stay close to Emperor Palpatine and protect him as these characters will also earn more points for your score and sticking together will keep them alive longer.

AbilityDescriptionSituation

Imperial Resources

Palpatine drops a power-up for his team to pick up. The Power-up Star Cards are some of the most powerful abilities in Star Wars Battlefront, and they are available to all troopers. Use this ability whenever friendly troopers are nearby because they can protect Palpatine and attack their target with greater ease.

Chain Lightning

This sends a charge of Force Lighting that attaches to one target and is spread through any other nearby targets with one blast. Use this ability primarily for groups of troopers standing close to each other. It weakens all of them, making them easier targets for your team.

Force Dash

Emperor Palpatine launches forward extremely rapidly. To make up for Palpatine’s slow movement speed, he can use Force Dash to launch himself forward, getting to any location quickly. Use this whenever you need to be somewhere, as the cool-down returns relatively quickly so you can use it again.
