Follow patrol leader. The mission starts as two other X-wing pilots flying toward a Tatooine canyon join you in search of TIE fighters that have been spotted in the area. Follow the patrol leader through the winding path until you encounter two TIE fighters.
Destroy all enemy fighters. Immediately draw a bead on one of the starfighters and take it out with a Proton Torpedo. Chase down the second one, and light it up with your laser cannons. In the meantime, four more Imperial ships fly head-on into the dogfight. Team up with your patrol to take them all down.

Flying the air vehicles in Star Wars Battlefront takes some adjustment, but once you get it, piloting the starfighters is a blast. The right stick aims the aircraft; point the aiming reticle in the direction you want to fly, and the ship follows suit. The left stick acts as a throttle, but it is more than that. A meter just above the fighter’s health indicates your energy distribution. Push up, and energy is shifted to your engines, speeding you up. Push down, and power is sent to your weapon systems, making the X-wing a more powerful force against the TIE fighters. Use the throttle to make quick turns and get behind your opponent, and try matching their speed as you light them up.
Hold the Soft Lock button to lock on to an enemy, which is indicated by a red circle. Your crosshairs move toward your target. Once they rest on top of the ship, press the Right Card button to release a homing missile and cause serious damage, which is often a one-hit kill with the TIE fighters. Watch the movement of your opponent carefully. Your shot can be evaded up to the last second, wasting precious time as your ability recharges.
Laser cannons act just like your blaster on the ground. Press the Fire button to shoot at enemy fighters. You may need to shoot ahead of your target for a successful hit. And, just like the blasters, the cannons overheat with overuse, though there is no active cooling mini-game. Simply let it cool down to continue use.
The X-wing’s Left Card Ability is a shield. Activate it when an opponent is targeting you. An alternative means to take an adversary down is slamming into the other fighter. Use your shield to absorb the damage this causes.
The X-wing has three evasive maneuvers that you activate by pressing left, up, or right on the d-pad. These buttons cause the ship to barrel roll left, turn 180 degrees with an Immelmann turn, and barrel roll right, respectively. A red icon appears next to the scanner, which indicates a cool down for your maneuvers.
Once you have destroyed the first six Imperial fighters, another squad enters, including three TIE interceptors and another four TIE fighters. These new ships need to be shot down in the same manner. Eliminate the group, taking advantage of your abilities and health pick-ups whenever possible.
Regroup with the patrol. Simply descend back into the canyon to rejoin the others and complete the mission.
