Star Card Hands and Customization

Star Cards grant special weapons and abilities in Multiplayer, Battle, and Survival modes. As part of your loadout, you can take a hand of three Star Cards into a game. A hand consists of two Star Cards and a Charged Star Card. Star Cards provide a bonus weapon, while Charged Star Cards give a weapon modification or an ability like better accuracy, a personal shield, or explosive shots. Note that these cards are only available to infantry, as heroes have preset abilities instead.

As you reach specific ranks, cards are unlocked for purchase. You earn credits by completing mission stars, finishing sieges in Base Command, earning experience, and achieving awards and challenges, and you use those credits to purchase the cards. Once you have purchased them, you can upgrade Star Cards and Charged Star Cards by paying another higher fee.

Each time a Star Card or Charged Star Card is activated, it must cool down before it comes back online. The amount of time required is called its cool-down time. Charged Star Cards also require a charge for each use. The number of charges available is shown in the corner of the card. Charge pick-ups, which give you +1 Charge, are available throughout the battlefield. You can also purchase them at 25 charges for 2200 credits.

Special cards called Traits become available at later Ranks. Purchase each one for the steep price of 9000 credits to get valuable bonuses. Select one to take into a game, and then level it up with kill streaks. The level is reset at the end of each round.

Customization

When thinking about your Star Card Hand, consider your play style, the game mode, and the map. Several cards are more effective against vehicles. Others are ideal in an open environment, while some work best in tight quarters. As you unlock them, try each one out to find your preferences. You can set up a customized hand in the Star Card menu and throw your favorites in there for a quick choice.

Some cards go well together. For example, the Ion Torpedo is great against vehicles, but it takes time to get a lock. Consider also taking the Personal Shield to protect yourself or the Smoke Grenade to hide your location. For an explosive time, try the Impact Grenade, Thermal Detonator, and Explosive Shot. Then, rain destruction all over the battlefield. Marksmen should try the Pulse Cannon or Cycler Rifle. Throw in the Jump Pack to find effective sniper locations, Focus Fire to increase accuracy, or Scan Pulse to avoid getting snuck up on. Numerous options exist, so experiment to find which work best for you.

Star Cards

The section below lists all Asset and Charge Star Cards, along with the rank where they become available, the cost, a description, and relevant stats.

Barrage

Type: star card

Rank Available: 24

Unlock Price (Credits): 4000

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

The MPL-57 (Multi-Purpose Launcher) Barrage fires a volley of three grenades with a short delay fuse. Pressing the appropriate Ability button pulls out the grenade launcher. Aim your shot and fire to send the explosives toward the target. The explosives are effective against a group of infantry. Use them to both get kills and clear out a location. When you approach an objective with enemy activity, bombard them with explosives to clear the way.

Bowcaster

Type: star card

Rank Available: 32

Unlock Price (Credits): 4000

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

Depending on the charge-up time, the Bowcaster fires one, three, or five explosive bolts in a horizontal arc. While you hold the Fire button, five circles turn red along the right side of the HUD, signifying how many bolts are ready to be launched. Release the button at any time to let them go. The reticle also has five dots that change color as you hold the button. White dots mean that the bolts are more likely to miss their mark, while red means that an enemy is currently targeted. Once you have shot, you must wait 18 seconds before using it again, so make every shot count. The Bowcaster is best saved for a group of foes, so you can take full advantage of multiple bolts. Watch out while charging the weapon, as you are vulnerable to attack. Your health is visible with the crossbow drawn, but the scanner is hidden. The Bowcaster works extremely well with the Jump Pack, allowing the player to fire the weapon down on enemies from mid-air. The explosive bolts just need to hit the nearby ground to damage them.

Cycler Rifle

Type: star card

Rank Available: 28

Unlock Price (Credits): 4000

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

Designed to fire solid projectiles, this crude but reliable rifle is excellent at hitting targets at extreme ranges and penetrating energy shields. Aim down the sights to zoom in on your target. The weapon has a very long range, but because it is a solid projectile, it suffers from bullet drop. Be sure to aim accordingly. A great addition to any sniper loadout, the Cycler Rifle excels against any soldier, even those protected by shields—making it a great choice against jumptroopers. Note that crouching makes you a smaller target for enemies, but it does not improve your accuracy.

Explosive Shot

Type: Charged star card

Upgrade Price (Credits): 9000

Explosive Shot temporarily supercharges your primary weapon to fire explosive bolts. The ability adds explosive damage to your blaster for 7-10 seconds. Activate it just before taking on a group of foes, and then quickly fire bolts at them. Note that your weapon still overheats.

Flash Grenade

Type: star card

Rank Available: 20

Unlock Price (Credits): 4000

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

This non-lethal explosive creates a bright energy flash and loud noise to disorient opponents. While the grenade does not cause any damage, it is still extremely helpful in any mode. Any trooper close to its detonation is disoriented by a white screen and deafening sound. Note that the explosion can affect you if you throw it too close to your position. Enemies cannot track you in this condition, so take advantage of the situation whether you are on the offensive or attempting to escape.

Focus Fire

Type: Charged star card

Rank Available: 7

Unlock Price (Credits): 2200

Upgrade Price (Credits): 9000

This gyroscopic modification stabilizes weapon accuracy for a short time, greatly lowering the spread on all primary blasters. Though this Charged Star Card helps your accuracy no matter which blaster you carry, it is ideal for a marksman with a long-range rifle. Try combining it with a heavy blaster like the DLT-19 and briefly turn it into a highly accurate weapon. It only lasts seven or 10 seconds, so activate it when you know you have a shot.

Homing Shot

Type: star card

Rank Available: 11

Unlock Price (Credits): 4000

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

This homing shot can lock on to enemy soldiers from afar. Activating the card equips the launcher. Aim at your opponent through the scope until the launcher gets a lock, and then fire. With a successful lock, the shot seeks out its target. You are vulnerable during this process, so take appropriate precautions.

Rank Available: 6

Unlock Price (Credits): 2200

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

Having a smaller blast radius than a Thermal Detonator, the Impact Grenade explodes directly on contact with any object. Keep this in mind when tossing the explosive. The indirect damage from a nearby explosion can be enough to eliminate an enemy, or at least cause him to flee.

Ion Grenade

Type: star card

Rank Available: 4

Unlock Price (Credits): 600

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

The Ion Grenade delivers massive damage against vehicles, shields, and droids—detonating when one is within range. This explosive is a good loadout choice when you’re playing against vehicles in modes such as Supremacy, Walker Assault, or Survival. The device will not detect enemy soldiers.

Ion Shot

Type: Charged star card

Rank Available: 7

Unlock Price (Credits): 2200

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

With limited supplies of armaments, Rebel forces often made battlefield adaptions to their weapons. A notable case was the development of an insert that allowed normal blasters to fire ion-charged bolts for short periods of time.

This modification allows your primary weapon to fire ion-charged bolts, making it very effective against shields, droids, and vehicles. The ability is only available for seven or 10 seconds, so activate it as soon as you have a shot at your target. At that point, rapidly tap the Fire button to take full advantage of the weapon. This greatly reduces damage to humanoids, lowering your weapon’s damage by 50%.

Ion Torpedo

Type: star card

Rank Available: 9

Unlock Price (Credits): 3000

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

A modification of the popular MPL-57 weapon system engineered to fire Ion Torpedoes. Extremely effective against vehicles and stationary weapons.

The homing Ion Torpedo is designed to deal heavy damage to vehicles, droids, and stationary weapons. This launcher locks on to its target, but it takes time to do so. Be careful during this time, as you are vulnerable to attack.

Jump Pack

Type: star card

Rank Available: 16

Unlock Price (Credits): 4000

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

Although the Jump Pack does not allow for sustained flight, it offers troops a reliable alternative to move quickly across the battlefield.

The back-mounted Jump Pack utilizes burst thrusters to allow its user to jump over large distances. It is well-suited for traversing obstructions and evading danger. This card allows you to reach locations that are otherwise inaccessible. In Battle and Survival missions, the Jump Pack is required to find all of the collectibles. Jump before triggering this ability to gain an extra boost.

Personal Shield

Type: Charged star card

Rank Available: 22

Unlock Price (Credits): 2200

Upgrade Price (Credits): 9000

To minimize casualties, the Empire modified the Droideka Shield Technology for use by ground troops. Although it hindered the use of weapons, it proved popular and was adopted by the Rebel Alliance.

The Personal Energy Shield provides protection from energy weapons. However, it offers no defense against kinetic weapons like Cycler Rifles and grenades. It provides you with several seconds of protection, which is plenty of time to escape from danger or finish a task where you are vulnerable. A 20-second cool-down is a long time between uses, so activate it wisely.

Pulse Cannon

Type: star card

Rank Available: 6

Upgrade Price (Credits): 7000

An incredibly powerful long-range rifle utilizing the frame assembly of a DLT-20A, the Pulse Cannon has become the weapon of choice for many sharpshooters. The power of its shot depends on the charge-up time. Aim with the gun’s powerful zoom, hold down the Fire button to charge it up, and then release the button. This is great for open environments, where long sight lines are possible. Make every shot count.

This 360-degree pulse burst reveals enemy soldiers, even if they are behind cover or out of sight. Activating the ability sends a pulse out in all directions. Any adversary hit by the pulse appears on your scanner. This is an extremely valuable Charged Star Card in many game modes. Leia Organa, disguised as the bounty hunter Boushh, threatened to use a Thermal Detonator during her rescue attempt of Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt.

As the most popular and widely used grenade in the galaxy, the Thermal Detonator is easy to use and provides deadly results. The explosive is great against a group of infantry but ineffective against vehicles. As the first available Star Card (and a relatively inexpensive one), it’s well worth purchasing just so you have an explosive to take into matches.
