Chapter 38: The Butcher

Chapter 38: The Butcher

You drop down from the drug lab into a room where Salem and El Carcinero await. Salem makes a hasty exit, while El Carcinero draws his machete (it’s a sword—look at that thing!) and prepares to show you just how crazy he really is.

Fighting the Butcher himself can be very intense if you don’t know how to handle him. He starts off hiding behind cover, blindfiring an SMG at either Alpha or Bravo with distressing accuracy.

After a short period of time, he will stand up, decide he doesn’t necessarily need to react to getting shot by high powered automatic weapons, and then run at the nearest T.W.O. operative with his machete in hand. If he gets too close, he lands a vicious melee slash that immediately puts the victim in the wounded state. To make matters even more complicated, El Carcinero will start getting some backup from cartel mercenaries if you take too long fighting him. Then he’ll run back to the nearest piece of cover and start the process all over again.

The trick is to lure him over to the explosive barrels or gas canisters scattered throughout the room. The explosions knock him flat, giving you a chance to really unload on him while he tries to recover. He’s always vulnerable to damage, even if he doesn’t appear to react to it. If you managed to preserve an Overkill for this battle, well, there’s an old saying about the foolishness of bringing a knife to a gunfight....

After the battle is won, Alpha, Bravo, and Fiona meet up with Chuy and Baker to discuss their next move. Fiona insists she knows where Bautista and Salem have fled to.

Chuy and Baker respectfully disagree.

Alpha brings the group back to reality. Fiona is the expert on La Guadaña, so it would be wise to actually listen to her. It’s time to prepare for the final assault.
