The room at the top of the stairs contains your ballistic masks, as though they were waiting for you. After donning them, continue into the next area where you are confronted by a contingent of fully armed mercenaries. The opening section of this firefight can be quite brutal. In addition to the pillar room being protected by mercs, the various side rooms contain additional hostiles , and the corridor leading out of the area is a cover-filled gauntlet. Look for grenades on merc corpses, and don’t be afraid to use them.

Climb the stairs past the first firefight. You’ll enter a two-story room with stair access to the upper floor . Mercenaries occupy the ground floor and the overlooking balconies. Make sure to take out as many balcony mercs as you can in order to thin out enemy numbers. More mercs will charge down the stairs as you approach.

The upper floor itself gains additional reinforcements as you reach it. While working your way across the first balcony, keep in mind that you’re constantly exposed to fire from the hostiles on the other side of the room. Use the pillars as safe zones. Once you clear the area, proceed up the stairs to close in on the rendezvous point with Chuy and Baker.
