Modifications
Weapon modifications allow you to greatly customize a given weapon (outside of the Sidearms class) to make up for any deficiencies that weapon may have, or to provide additional utility to a weapon (like an underslung grenade launcher). You can take an assault rifle and turn it into a pseudo-LMG with enhanced accuracy, a massive drum magazine, a powerful scope, a rail mounted laser sight, and a foregrip for stability. Once you’ve properly Frankenstein’d a gun, then you can consider yourself a full member of T.W.O.
There are seven modification categories shared across all weapons.
Stock
The stock of a weapon can change its overall stability, either improving or degrading the accuracy and mobility ratings.
Magazine
Magazine mods can improve the magazine size or reload speed of a weapon. Certain magazine mods can improve the damage rating of a gun, such as armor piercing rounds or fiery Dragon’s Breath rounds.
Sight
A good sight can change the entire focus of a weapon. It is able to enhance the accuracy of a weapon to such a degree that even an LMG feels capable of accurately nailing a headshot from half a block away.
Under Mount
Under mount mods include a wide variety of special enhancements for weapons. Foregrips and laser sights increase accuracy, and blind-fire cameras improve accuracy while firing from behind cover. A number of weapons are capable of mounting grenade launchers to this slot, adding serious firepower to any weapon capable of taking one.
Side Mount
Adding additional utility to weapons that can use them, side mount mods include the ballistic shield for extra protection from enemy fire, and even a special mount for an additional magazine to speed up reloads.
Barrel
Adjusting the barrel of a weapon can affect its range and mobility. It’s generally a good idea to shoot for more mobility if at all possible when adjusting the barrel, if only to help you get around the battlefield faster.
Muzzle
Modifications for the muzzle of a weapon include silencers that reduce aggro and range ratings, and muzzle brakes that increase aggro and accuracy ratings. Use these mods to further adjust the purpose of a weapon—either to get the attention of your enemies, or to quietly slip behind them and murder them before they can react.
