Head to the place Jackie says he wants to meet you. At first, it looks like he’s running late. Wei tries calling him, but he hears a phone ringing just around the corner and goes to investigate.
There’s nothing to be done for Jackie. It’s obvious that he did not go peacefully or quietly. A devastated Wei isn’t given much time to process what has happened to his friend, as he’s knocked out from behind by a thug.
Wei awakens in the care of Mr. Tong. He is responsible for what happened to Jackie, and for the next few minutes, he visits a fraction of that upon Wei until Wei passes out.
Wei awakens, and his guards abuse him a bit more before leaving. After you regain control, drag Wei slowly over to a cutting saw to undo his bonds. A guard spots Wei trying to escape, and tries to beat him down into submission. When prompted, Counter his attack, and begin the escape. Badly wounded, Wei is only able to limp to the exit.
Sneak up on the guard in the next room and introduce his head to the toilet. It’s a short and wet meeting.
Wei enters the next room, adrenaline pumping through his veins to help him ignore the worst of his injuries. There are a number of Triad forces in the room. Wei’s approach is temporarily masked by the music playing from the nearby TV. Once you start the fight, use everything you can to put the enemy down quickly. You can throw the gangsters onto the table saw, down an elevator shaft, or on a piece of rebar.
After the first group is taken out, two Brawlers bust their way into the room.
With the thugs out of the way, kick your way through a door to escape the penthouse suite. You’ll have to do a couple dangerous jumps during this portion here.
Once you climb to the roof, you encounter another Triad member with his back turned to you. Throw him into the nearby power switch.
Another four gangsters are on the roof a little distance away from the first.
Eventually, a gangster arrives on the roof, armed with an auto-shotgun, and Wei takes cover behind some crates. Action Vault over to him to take the weapon for yourself. It’s not quite Christmas, but it is an auto-shotgun. Payback is about to get excessively violent.
Work your way downstairs, killing anyone in your path. There are five gunmen waiting for you just as you leave the stairwell, with another half dozen farther into the area. The lightning flashes from the rainstorm, coupled with the flashlights mounted on many of the guns, can make finding targets tough and make getting flanked much easier. Keep an eye on your mini-map to make sure you haven’t let anyone past you.
In the hall after the first group of gunmen, you find these poor guys who have decided to post themselves close to an explosive canister.
Just past them is another large team of Triad enemies, all of whom have you sighted as soon as you round the corner. If you haven’t yet, switch to an assault rifle for the next fight.
The next room contains a still-under-construction swimming pool and plenty of scaffolding where the enemy likes to set up to snipe at Wei. There also happens to be a large number of gas canisters you can use to wipe out groups of enemies. This is why you want that assault rifle. Don’t advance too far forward until you are certain that you eliminated every last mook. It’s easy to get blindsided by a new wave of bad guys approaching from the ground floor if you’re too hasty.
Tip
If the worklights mounted throughout the area are proving to be a big nuisance, you can shoot the lights to clear up your vision a little bit.
Once you beat this fairly extensive ambush, you’re in the final stretch. Wei enters a steam bath, only to be surprised by a Triad enforcer, who quickly disarms Wei.
It’s two on one: a Grappler and a Brawler versus you. They’ve got a little more health than the average thug, but they follow the same basic rules that other thugs of their type follow. Take advantage of their individual class weaknesses and put them out of your misery.
Mr. Tong enters the room, unimpressed by your desperate struggle, and he pulls a mean-looking polished butcher knife from his suitcase. As an opponent, Tong is similar to other enemies who have wielded blades. Grappling him is out of the question, and he’ll make you pay for even trying. What makes Tong especially dangerous is how skilled he is with that knife. If he lands one cut, he will probably land a few more, tearing out huge chunks of life with every slash. You’ll have to be aggressive, but not so much that you’re unable to Counter his slashes at a moment’s notice.
QTEs crop up during the fight, giving you a chance to cut short his offense and knock him to the ground. Throw in a kick to his body while he’s lying down to get that extra bit of damage. So long as you show a bit of patience and fight safely, Tong’s own aggressiveness will be his downfall.
After Wei unloads bloody vengeance on Tong, he is utterly exhausted. Tong’s smartphone rings with a message from Big Smile Lee: Broken Nose Jiang is next on the list after Wei. There’s no time to relax. Wei needs to get to the election now.
