Bride to Be

The drive from the Golden Koi to the Bridal Shop is quite lengthy, but as long as you drive well there shouldn’t be any serious complications. What you have to be on the lookout for is Peggy’s mood, which is shown as a filled meter. If Wei gets in accidents, the meter starts to empty. It can recover, but Peggy is easily rattled, so try to avoid driving too unsafe. She doesn’t mind speeding if you’re not hitting anything.

Along the way to the Bridal Shop, Peggy and Wei discuss his life in the Triad, and his love life in particular. She worries that Wei may be so obsessed with the life that he may forget how to live outside of it. She insists on helping him find a woman to one day marry.

Once at the shop, Peggy changes into her wedding dress and makes the final requests for the flower arrangement. She wants black orchids, but the worker at the shop says they aren’t possible to find in Hong Kong. She later corrects herself. The temple in North Point does grow them, but is not willing to give them away or sell them. Disappointed, Peggy and Wei leave the shop.

The next stop is the Cake Shop to pick up Peggy’s wedding cake. It’s another fairly long drive, but there’s no mood meter to worry about. A short way into the trip, you get a text message from Winston: Someone is stealing the wedding cake, and you need to get over there to intercept them. You have three-and-a-half minutes to make it to the shop in time!

Wei tries very badly to disguise the sudden urgency, even while Peggy grills him about his family life. She tells Wei that even if he has no family in Hong Kong, she and Winston can be his new family.

You arrive at the shop just in time to see the van leave with Peggy’s cake. At first she’s a bit apprehensive about how fast you’re going to chase the cake down, but when reminded that if the van escapes, her wedding will not have a cake, she demands you drive faster.

The delivery van isn’t faster than the car you were given for this mission, so it’s easy to catch up. Action Hijack the van and climb along the side of the van to reach the driver’s cab. Wei may begin slipping off the van during this part, so be prepared to survive a couple QTEs. Once inside the van, you find out that the thief doesn’t actually work for Dogeyes, but is just another woman who wants the perfect cake for her own wedding. Deliver the van to the designated dropoff point.

Peggy is grateful for the hard work, but is now inspired by your antics. She wants those black orchids, and she knows that Wei is not afraid of causing a little trouble to get them. It’s off to the temple with the both of you! Once there, you need to climb up the wall with some construction tarps on it to get inside the temple grounds. A spare Monk Outfit can be found inside a storage room just after climbing up the wall.

Now you need to climb up the steps of the temple. You’ll encounter monks who are suspicious of your overall appearance, but you’re able to Fast Talk some pseudo-wisdom for their brains to chew on and they let you pass. Once you get to the temple itself, there’s some item collecting you can do before you grab the orchids.

After looting the temple of valuables and praying at the Health Shrines, make your way to the orchids. Once you pick the flowers, a monk spots you and the gig’s up! From the main temple, an alarm bell begins ringing, and the monk confronts you.

Unlike the thugs you’ve fought so far, the temple monks are trained martial artists. Attack them recklessly and they will counter Wei. Grab them while they are still high on health, and they will reverse the Grab. The best way to open up any monk is to patiently wait for him to come to you, Counter his attack, and then use a short combo that can knock him down or stun him, allowing you a chance to finish him off.

Even while stunned or surprised by a Counter, a monk recovers quickly and can start dodging your attacks again. When you see a monk dodge an attack, stop your combo immediately! You’re being set up for a counter.

After crushing the first monk, work your way back towards the temple. Another monk will confront you while others run. Defeat him and make your way inside the temple to take out the monk ringing the bell. With him unconscious that annoying ringing will stop.

The central courtyard in front of the temple is where four monks assault Wei. Some of the tourists in the area think that this is some sort of show, and begin taking pictures.

One monk can be a challenge of your patience, but four at once can be frustrating. While there are environmental hazards to use on them to quickly remove them from the equation, it’s not easy to get them into a state where Grabs are safe to use. However, if you’re confident with your Counters, you can farm serious bonus Triad points with consecutive Counters, and the four monks are more than willing to feed attacks to Wei.

Once Wei gets in the car, Peggy offers Wei a change of clothes, and then you’re ready to drop her off to play mahjong. She’s grateful for all the assistance, and believes that Wei is a good and trustworthy man, a good “brother” to have, and a good soldier to Winston. Her kindness leaves Wei struggling to maintain both his composure and his cover, but Peggy doesn’t suspect a thing. With the errands completed, the mission is finished.
