Right off the bat, you’re in a race against time. You’ve got one minute and fifteen seconds to drive from the K-Bar to Uncle Po, and hopefully you’ve followed the above advice and come prepared. The real danger is that the drive from the K-Bar takes you through some very restrictive streets that are all likely to be filled with traffic. A serious accident that slows or stops you can cause you to fail. Of course, this also means there are many easy ways to lose Cop points well before you even get to the hospital!
It’s chaos in the hospital when you arrive. The 18k are interrogating hospital staff for Uncle Po’s location, and killing the uncooperative. The lobby is guarded by five Triad members, one of whom has his back to the front door. He’s your first victim. Get his gun away from him, then neutralize the other Triad members. There are civilians still lingering in the reception area, including a nurse being used as a human shield. Fortunately, there’s a lot of cover you can Action Vault over to set up bullet time kills of many of the enemies here all at once.
After putting down the guards at the front entrance, proceed towards the elevator marked on the HUD. More 18k are posted throughout the emergency room, including another thug using a human shield. After dealing with him, check the rooms to the left to eliminate another pair of 18k. In the adjacent room with the MRI machine, another pair of thugs will be trying to take cover behind the device. It’s possible to Action Vault through the glass, a relatively safer way to advance forward while attacking these guys.
From down the hall leading to the elevator, another squad of five gunmen will try to rush the MRI room. You can choose to hole up in there and take them down from behind cover, Action Vault though another window to engage them head on, or try to flank them from one of the adjacent rooms. Whatever you choose to do, be ready to pull off some headshots. The Triad members here are very aggressive and will try to get in close range quickly. Once you’ve cleared the hall, get to the elevator.
Tip
It’s seriously not a bad idea to just charge down the hallway after an Action Vault starts bullet time. Remember that headshots can quickly fill the Face Meter, and every time it’s filled, it can extend bullet time for as long as you’re aiming down the sights of your weapon.
It’s not a smooth ride to the next floor where Uncle Po is being kept. An explosion causes the elevator to crash down the shaft, and power goes out. You have to force open the doors to proceed deeper into the hospital. The hall outside of the elevator is mostly dark, and the sprinklers are spraying to contain small fires. The 18k here have upped the ante with SMGs, all mounted with flashlights. These lights can be quite annoying, temporarily filling up the screen with a bright flare when pointed directly at Wei. Fortunately, the lights also act as beacons to help you guide your bullets, and there’s a lot of cover you can use to your advantage here.
After killing the first three 18k, another pair appear by the door leading to Uncle Po’s room. Don’t get blindsided by them.
You enter Uncle Po’s room to find a very nervous Ricky holding the line by himself. With the power out, Uncle Po’s life support is offline. Wei tells Ricky that he knows where the control station is to restore the power.
Another race against time. You’ve got two-and-half minutes to get to the control panel that can restore the power. The 18k attack in force here, rushing down a hallway that you need to go down yourself to get to the panel. Going through them is the fastest way to reach the control panel, but obviously quite dangerous. If you’re low on health and time, you can try to sprint through the side rooms to outflank the enemy and reach the control room.
Once at the control room, you’ll need to hack the security system to restore power. Time will still be ticking down during the hack, so move swiftly. With power restored, make your way back towards Ricky. More 18k will rush towards the control room, so you’ll need to cut them down to get to Ricky.
Ricky calls out a warning about another wave of enemies coming from the corridors to the south of Uncle Po’s room. You can’t let any 18k slip past. Consider picking up an SMG if you haven’t already to help put more rounds into each target that much faster. After downing these five enemies, a second wave will arrive on the eastern and western ends of the corridor that the control room was located within. These guys will be packing full assault rifles and shotguns, so try not to let them get too close, and avoiding being caught in a crossfire by staying out of the corridor they’re arriving from.
A third wave of five 18k attack once more from the southern entrances. This is the final stretch, so hang in there! Getting killed at any point during these final three waves forces you to start at the beginning of the first wave, so pace your aggression if health is an issue.
In the aftermath of the gun battle, Wei is shocked that there was no one here to back them up. Ricky laments that the brotherhood once shared amongst the Sun On Yee seems to have died off, and that nobody is looking out for anyone anymore. Attacks are indiscriminate, happening in hospitals and weddings. Before the conversation can continue, the sounds of police sirens fill the air. It’s time to leave.
At the hospital exit, police officers spot Ricky and Wei as they get to their escape vehicle, and a massive chase ensues. This is likely one of the toughest cop chases you’ve had thrown at you so far. Level 5 Heat means the HKPD is out for blood, and there’s likely not even the thought of questions to be asked after the shooting stops. Complicating matters is Ricky, who will understandably be trying to defend himself from the cops, but ends up just angering them even more.
At this Heat level, the HKPD will be setting up roadblocks at fairly regular intervals, and depending on the street you’re racing down, they can be easy to blow through or difficult. This has the added detriment of resetting the dragnet back on top of you, no matter how far ahead you were before. Even using the freeways to escape is tough because of the frequency of police blockades.
Tip
You can see where blockades have been set up by checking your GPS map. Remember, it’s generally a good idea to take a winding route through the city if you’re trying to avoid police and civilian casualties.
After escaping the cops, take Ricky to the designated dropoff point. Ricky believes that open war with the 18k is inevitable. Wei suggests to Ricky that even if the 18k are truly responsible, someone has to be behind the scenes inside the Sun On Yee, hoping to the take out Uncle Po and assert power. Once Ricky is dropped off, the mission is complete.
Afterwards, you need to get to a safehouse to lie low for a bit. Take a nap in bed. When you wake up, Ricky will have texted you, offering you a chance to step into the “Big Time”.
