After leaving the hospital, call up Jackie. Wei can’t discuss the news in public, but he tells Jackie that he’ll pick him up from the sauna he’s currently enjoying. When they meet, Wei informs Jackie that he’s to be initiated properly into the Sun On Yee, and that Wei will become a Red Pole. To celebrate, Jackie offers to pay for Wei’s massage. It doesn’t hurt to take him up on the offer. The free Face boost can come in handy.
After taking Jackie up on the massage, drive to the target’s location, the Galleria Mall. Jackie is concerned, saying that Yung is Sun On Yee, but Wei reminds him that Yung has been dealing to kids.
You can overhear thugs talking about their illicit dealings once you get inside the mall. Move to confront them. Jackie gets split up dealing with other thugs, while four others head straight for Wei. Two are armed with knives, so be on the lookout for ways to take them out of the equation right away. Once you’ve taken out your group, go and help Jackie.
Yung and two other thugs, one of whom is a Grappler, are giving Jackie a hard time. Jump in and save your buddy. Yung can’t be harmed until you deal with his two guards. Yung himself is a tougher-than-average opponent, and becomes quite aggressive when he’s left on his own. Wear him down with Counters, followed by short combos.
In the ensuing scene, Yung continues to put up a fight, eventually managing to push Wei back and draw a gun. Jackie has his own gun, and puts Yung down for good. After this, leave the scene with Jackie and make your way to the initiation. Jackie does not feel good about his first kill, but Wei assures him the sick feeling in his stomach will fade eventually.
At the initiation, Pockmark addresses Wei, Jackie, Conroy, and Duke. He says that they are all now brothers, all Sun On Yee, and they are sworn to respect and protect each other, even unto death. No greater bond exists, and no greater punishment exists than that reserved for traitors. With this initiation, Wei Shen is officially a Red Pole.
Checking In
Another meeting with Raymond reveals the next step in the operation: the investigation of Sonny Wo, an entertainer with connections to porn and possibly human trafficking. The HKPD also intends to take in Jackie Ma, citing him as a possible source of good intel. Wei refuses to agree with the plan, insisting that Jackie is part of his cover. Raymond says that the orders come from Pendrew, and the matter is not open to debate.
