It’s time to awkwardly flirt with a girl you just met while cruising the streets. Get your motorcycle from the parking garage.
The first part of this mission is fairly simple. Take Amanda around the city to the various waypoints that appear on the map, and don’t frighten her or get her hurt or killed in an accident. It’s actually worth taking your time between each checkpoint, as Amanda and Wei will chat each other up during the ride.
The first major stop is Club Bam Bam, which isn’t too far from Wei’s safehouse. You’ll be coming back here throughout the story.
Your next stop is a temple a few blocks away from Club Bam Bam. The martial arts school isn’t at the temple, but it’s an impressive vista nonetheless.
The last waypoint is the martial arts school itself. Once you arrive at this stop, you automatically step inside the school. Amanda’s desire to learn kung fu is overshadowed by an important reunion. Sifu Kwok, the teacher at this school, was Wei’s master when the Shen family lived in Hong Kong many years before. Believing that Wei has brought Amanda as his fiance to the school, Sifu compliments Wei’s skill at picking up women, but challenges Wei’s skills at kung fu.
The first part of this fight is a tutorial, designed to reinforce the importance and utility of locking on to an opponent. While locked on to Sifu, you must press the Strike button and move Wei towards the three students to lash out at them.
After this tutorial, Sifu offers to train you in your first Melee Training Upgrade, the Sweep Kick. Remember to tap the Strike button for the first Strike, then hold down the button for the second input to execute the Sweep Kick. After practicing the move several times on the volunteer training dummy, the rest of the students stand up to practice a few moves of their own on Wei.
The students are better trained and more aggressive than the thug simpletons you’ve faced so far. Your Counters have to be timed much tighter when dealing with them. Once a student takes enough damage, he bows and backs down. After defeating the students, the lesson is over and the Sweep Kick is yours.
Sifu laments the fact that most of his younger students wish to become Sun On Yee, but recognizes that there is little he can do to change their minds. The conversation turns towards a Jade Statue sitting alone in a display case. It belonged within a set of twelve, but most were stolen by a former student.
After Sifu leaves to close up shop for the day, Amanda needs to return home for the day, but insists that she wants to call you later.
Note
Now that you’ve met with Sifu, you are now involved with the side mission to locate the missing eleven Jade Statues hidden throughout Hong Kong. This is the only way you will be able to earn any Melee Training Upgrades.
Note
In addition to the statue side mission, a martial arts club has opened up in an alley very close to the martial arts school. You can earn a nice chunk of change by surviving the six waves of enemies you’re placed against by joining the competition.
Note
Amanda’s phone number also comes in handy right away. If you call her up, you can start the Favor “Photograph Amanda”. The drive to Magistrate Park from North Point is long, but the reward for meeting with Amanda is extremely helpful.
