Location: Paititi, Peru
Objective: Explore the Regions
After defeating Dominguez and completing the game, you return to Paititi. From here, you can finish up all of the challenge tombs, crypts, challenges, side missions, and Artifact collections that remain incomplete. Use campfires to fast-travel between regions. If you’re missing any collectibles from Cozumel, there are new Base Camps available.
Refer to the Status screen to find out what remains to be completed, then check our region maps for where to find missed items and activities. This is also a great opportunity for the following activities:
- Exotic animals can be hunted as soon as you reach the regions.
- Valuables hidden behind special barriers and inside treasure chests require special gear acquired later in the game.

Hunting Grounds
Hunting is an extracurricular activity available in Peruvian Jungle, Kuwaq Yaku, Hidden City, and Mission of San Juan anytime these regions are accessible. A variety of animals live in the wild areas of these regions. From small rabbits and birds to jaguars and capybaras, all of these animals can be hunted. Each kill earns a set amount of XP, along with resources. Birds provide feathers, while land wildlife yield hide and possible fat. Rare resources are available from exotic animals, such as the black wolf and empress jaguar. Some locals reveal the locations of these animals.
The following table lists the exotic animals found in each region.
| Region | Exotic Animal | Location |
|---|---|---|
Eagle |
Above the entrance to the temple, in the village. |
Black Wolf |
Near crypt, north of abandoned village. |
Albino Capybara |
Paititi Wilderness. |
Empress Jaguar |
Jungle outside of mission, just before Tree of Life Challenge Tomb. |
Condor |
Talk to the man who stands along the road that leads to the mission. He informs you of a condor flying just outside the crypt. |
Barriers
Three types of barriers are inaccessible the first time you find them, and must be revisited at a later time if you wish to explore the barricaded areas. Braided ropes require a Reinforced Knife, which isn’t available until you reach Paititi. Shotgun barriers can’t be entered until you find the shotgun in Cenotes. Ascender barriers require the rope Ascender to destroy the obstruction—purchase it from a special Merchant after completing a specific side mission in Paititi.
Rope Barrier

Shotgun Barrier

Ascender Barrier

Our region maps identify these three types of barriers. The following table lists the valuables found behind them in each region.
| Region | Barrier Type | What You Will Find |
|---|---|---|
Braided Rope |
Braided ropes block access to a corridor, but nothing is hidden inside. This is provided as a convenience if you return to the Cozumel ruins. It allows access aboveground, when the underwater tunnel is no longer accessible. |
Shotgun |
A shotgun is required to enter the one-room crypt on the east side of the region, and to find rare resources and a Document in the jungle. |
Ascender |
An Ascender barrier is found in the jungle area near the challenge tomb entrance. Find rare resources inside. |
Braided Rope |
Braided ropes block rare resources near the market, inside the abandoned village crypt, and next to the Belly of the Serpent Base Camp. Another rope barrier is near the Mountain Temple entrance, providing access to one of the high-dive spots. |
Ascender |
A couple of Ascender barricades are in the abandoned village. Find rare resources and Documents inside. |
Shotgun |
Provides shortcut between the temple entrance and the challenge tomb. |
Return to Paititi |
Braided Rope |
Just after you cross the bridge and enter the Kukulkan stronghold, a barrier on the right allows access to a Relic and rare resources. |
Shotgun |
From the Riverside Base Camp, cross the busted bridge to find the barrier on the right. A rare resource hides inside. |
Ascender |
Enter Ruined Tower to find a Relic. |
Treasure Chests
In Paititi, the “Skill of the Player” side mission requires that you speak to five Outcasts around Paititi. The final Outcast is in the middle of the village, and turns out to be a special Merchant. Among other items, she sells the Lockpick, which is used to unlock conquistador treasure chests hidden around the regions. There are seven chests in all, and each one unlocks a new Artifact.
