Ghost Ian has taken over Fort Wasteland and doesn’t want you messing with his Spatters. There are two possible outcomes at the end of the level depending on whether you use Paint or Thinner on your enemies.
You start off on a dock outside the fort. Cannons are firing Thinner from the fort, so watch out in this area.
OPTIONAL QUEST
FINDING THE HIDDEN HEROES
Thin out a starfish to the left on the wall to find a hidden Oswald symbol.
Hop out to the raft behind the starting dock.
Bronze Pin
Paint in the red chest on the raft behind the start to receive a Bronze Pin.
OPTIONAL QUEST
THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA WASTELANDICA
Head back toward the fort and stop on the giant boot. There is a Picture Spot on the boot for this quest.
Chop Chop Pin
During the second visit to the zone, a cave opens up under the giant ax. Look for a red chest inside that contains the Chop Chop Pin.
To make crossing the Thinner lake easier, paint in the platforms as you go. You want to head toward the hill at the left corner of the fort wall. From there, you can choose to enter the clock tunnel to the right of the fort, or you can head up the giant ax to the left.
First you should enter the clock tunnel and then backtrack to the forest. Before you can enter the tunnel, however, you need to find the Clock Hands. Have Oswald toss Mickey from the hill to the bird’s nest above. Jump from nest to nest and retrieve the first Clock Hand.
There are a series of large bottle caps attached to the front of the Fort. The first cap remains in a stuck-up position and you can jump on it safely. The second bottle cap opens for a few seconds and then closes, so you have to jump onto the cap, then toss Oswald in the air so both of you can glide over to the shore on the opposite side.
Pass by the clock and jump over to the big sleeping bear to bounce up and get the second Clock Hand.
OPTIONAL QUEST
A FRIEND IN DEED
You can take a picture of the bear for Metairie if you are helping her in the optional quest, A Friend in Deed.
You can place the Clock Hands on the clock door by activating the door itself. The door opens up and reveals a tunnel.
OPTIONAL QUEST
FINDING THE HIDDEN HEROES
You can find another hidden Oswald just inside the clock.
Search for a boat right inside the clock tunnel that has concept art at the top. Thin out the supports to drop the boat.
Get in the boat and paint the supports back in so you can climb on them to reach the concept art.
Concept Art 37
Climb the wooden supports above the boat to reach the concept art.
Open the stopwatch on the ground by pulling on the handle. This gives Oswald the chance to shock the console inside and open the door.
A series of giant bottles line the wall inside the clock door on the left. The first bottle is jammed, so jump up and use a Spin Attack on the jar to clear the jam. Then paint the giant corks to plug up the bottles, which will make all the bottle cap platforms on the front of the fort stay open.
Take the clock tunnel back out front and climb on the bottle cap platforms.
Silver Pin
Paint in the chest on the right bottle cap, which contains a Silver Pin.
Return to the giant ax and climb up. Paint in any missing sections.
OPTIONAL QUEST
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES (VISIT 2)
During the second visit to this zone, you can take a picture at the top of the ax for the quest.
Be cautious of the Spladoosh at the top. Use the stopwatch switch to open the door.
To the left of the cave are thinnable crayons with a standard chest behind. Use the stopwatch inside to open the giant mouth gate ahead. Once you open the giant gate, climb the nests to the left and paint the last one in to jump across to the wooden ledge.
A piece of golden Cloth floats inside the hollowed-out section of the tree.
Paint in the nest and the big ox nose for later use. You will encounter some Dropwings and Spladooshes in the next area. Use Paint or Thinner on them, depending on which path you want to complete for the end.
Once you clear the area of any enemies, check the back of the room for a waterfall.
Go to the right of the waterfall and head toward the corner of the forest and the fort walls. Paint the rock that has a chest on it.
Cascade Peak Pin
Look behind the waterfall for a red chest that has the Cascade Peak Pin.
Football Cleats
The cleats for the Football Costume rest inside the painted-in chest in the back corner.
Head back toward the waterfall and find the short tree stump. You can start a long climb up by jumping on this stump.
OPTIONAL QUEST
THE BUNNY WRANGLERS (VISIT 2)
Look for a nearby pipe for The Bunny Wranglers optional quest during a second visit back here.
Continue hopping up the trees and nests until you see the tree before the ox nose. Thin out this tree so that you can jump on it.
Jump over to the ledge where you found the golden Cloth earlier. Next, jump on the nests and land over on the ox head.
A chest with some random loot sits on top of the ox.
OPTIONAL QUEST
THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA WASTELANDICA
Take note of a Picture Spot on the top of the ox head.
Paint in the tree chunk in front of the ox that you thinned out earlier. This time, you can jump on the tree at its maximum height. From there, jump to the last tree and paint in the nest.
Use the nest to reach the ledge with a trapped Gremlin.
OPTIONAL QUEST
OPERATION GREMLIN DROP
Free the trapped Gremlin, and he will reward you with a golden E-ticket.
Gus teleports over to the fort wall to show you a secret way into the fort. Toss Oswald into the air and and then both of you can glide over to the wall.
OPTIONAL QUEST
WATCH THE SKIES
Before entering the fort, grab the Donald Duck Milk Bottle for the Watch the Skies quest. You can also enter the fort from the forest below by thinning out some trees near the wall to break the wall.
OPTIONAL QUEST
CREATIVE THREEDOM
One of the Three Little Pigs has been jailed inside the cell behind the thinned-out rock. Speak to him if you want to continue on the Creative Threedom optional quest.
Drop into the fortress and go over to the large rock blocking a door. Thin out the jail cell door and enter.
A machine with a pull switch stands outside the jail cell. Pull on the handle so that Oswald can activate the machine.
Several Spatters show up and attack. Deal with them using either Paint or Thinner, according to your preference.
Slobber
The hardest Blotling is the Slobber with its massive claws, suction breath, and Thinner spit. The claws rake you for damage, the suction breath pulls you in closer, and its Thinner spit can hit you at range, much like the Sweeper’s Thinner buckets. However, when the Slobber uses its suction breath, its mouth opens wide, and you can spray Paint or Thinner in the mouth to damage it.
Once you have dealt with all the Spatters, a Slobber appears. He moves pretty slowly, so keep your distance to avoid his powerful swipes. At distance, he will lob Thinner and open his mouth to do a suction breath attack that will pull you close. When he opens his mouth, hit him with either Paint or Thinner. Do this a few times to defeat him.
If you used Paint to befriend Ian’s Blotlings, Ian thanks you and gives you a flower costume as a gift. He also opens up a door leading to the Building a Building (version 2) projector, which will take you to a secret entrance halfway through the Floatyard.
OPTIONAL QUEST
CLOTHES MAKE THE SPATTER
You can return the clean Flower Costume to Clarabelle in OsTown and the tattered costume to the Mad Hatter shop in Mean Street South for a reward.
If you used Thinner to eliminate all the Blotlings, Ian will be angry and unleash another horde of “improved” Spatters on you. They come out of the pipes around the room. If you rescued the Gremlin, he will close off one of the pipes so you have to fight fewer Spatters.
After you beat Ian’s second group of Spatter, he drops the tattered Flower Costume and storms off. The botanist shows up and thanks you for recovering the fort for them. A rocky wall gets blown open, revealing an entrance to D.E.C. 5, which leads to the Floatyard.
After you fight your way through Fort Wasteland, you complete the Fortified challenge.
OPTIONAL QUEST
CLOTHES MAKE THE SPATTER
The plant costume reward can be taken to the Mad Hatter shop in Mean Street South as part of this quest.
