Once you’re out on the balcony overlooking the courtyard leading to the train station, look for a red chest on the left side. Opening the chest grants you the Charge It Pin.
Charge It Pin
There is a red chest on the balcony above the control room, before you drop into the courtyard with the Spatters. Open the red chest to gain the Charge It Pin.
Jump down to the courtyard and prepare for your first battle. Two Spatters charge as soon as they spot you. Oswald can stun them with his Electricity or Boomarmerang throw. Mickey can either use Thinner to dissolve the Blotlings or use Paint to befriend them. Work together to beat the two enemies, and avoid getting too close to them so you don’t lose any health.
Spatter
Spatters tend to charge as soon as they spot you. They will headbutt you with their oversized noggins if they get in range, so stay out of range. If they get close, Mickey can swat them aside with a Spin Attack and Oswald can use either his Boomarmerang or Electricity to stun them. Better yet, keep your distance and spray them with Paint or Thinner to remove the threat.
After you deal with the Spatters, another quake hits and dislodges more debris. Cross to the opposite side of the courtyard where a huge column fell. Spray Paint into the alcove with the two doors to uncover a Red Chest with a Silver Pin inside (worth three Generic Pins).
To reach the train station, you need to navigate up and over the debris. Climb up the peak of the fallen tower and turn to the right until you see Gus beckoning you to the next landing.
Silver Pin
A hidden chest gives you the next Silver Pin. In the courtyard with the Spatter, look for the thinned-out chest in front of the rubble inside the alcove with the open doors. Paint in the chest and claim your reward.
Double jump over to the next landing. The next jump, though, is much too big to cross solo. You’ll have to work together to bridge it.
Stand on the edge of the landing and face the far side. Throw Oswald up in the air using the Co-op button, then jump up and grab Oswald’s feet. Once Mickey is holding on, you will control Oswald and Mickey to glide over to the far side and land both atop the last landing.
Take a breather on the final landing and look down. The second half of the courtyard holds another enemy—a fearsome Blotworx, part Blotling and part animatronics.
Blotworx
This is the Blocker, a Blotworx that can pack quite a wallop. Luckily, the Blotworx has a built-in weakness: the big red button on top of its head. Have Oswald stun the creature with his Electricity, so that Mickey can jump up and land on the button. Then paint in or thin the Blotling inside to deal with the monster.
Leap down and confront the Blotworx. Oswald should stun it with Electricity, while Mickey jumps atop it and hits the big, red button. Jumping on the button opens the robotic suit and you’ll see the Blotling inside for several seconds. Mickey can either thin the Blotling to destroy the creature, or paint it to turn it into an ally.
With the Blotworx out of the way, you can now reach the train station. Ortensia, after having survived some adventures of her own, waits for you inside the station building.
Unfortunately, rubble blocks the train tracks. Luckily, Oswald has been a little remiss and “forgot” to get rid of all the fireworks in Wasteland. With the fireworks, you can blow a hole in the rubble to get the train operational again.
Drag the fireworks out of the of the alcove by pressing the Action Button and then slide them in front of the rubble on the train tracks. Step back and let Oswald use his Electricity to ignite the fireworks. They explode in a fiery light show that vaporizes the rubble blocking the track.
With the castle coming down around you, the four of you jump aboard the train as it leaves the Dark Beauty station.
Next stop: Mean Street.
Oswald’s New Groove
With the completion of Dark Beauty Castle, you can gain the “Oswald’s New Groove” Challenge if you played through the level with two players. If you go it solo, even though Oswald shows up to aid Mickey, you won’t complete the challenge. So get that extra controller out of the closet.
