Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag eGuide Freedom Cry DLC Memories

Memory 7: Plant the Seeds

Optional Objectives
  • Sink the pirate schooners before the sinking the brig.
  • Destroy the pirate flotilla in 6 minutes.

Bait and Switch

The first part of this Memory can be quite daunting: follow Godin to the beach and swap out the ship manifest with a forged one. Sounds pretty standard, right? The problem is that far more overseers and jailers are about than ever before; walking behind Godin is completely out of the question if you want to avoid detection—which you should, because you’ll fail the mission if Godin sees you tailing him.

Start by immediately marking Godin with your eagle vision. This allows you to be on a completely different path from Godin since you can see him through walls. It also prevents you from failing the mission if you don’t have Godin directly in front of you.

Right after tagging your target with eagle vision, follow Godin until he leaves the market and makes his way onto the main road.

Instead of following him, walk off the path to the right of the stall up ahead.

Climb the short white wall ahead and jump down behind the house below, and take a right when your feet hit the ground.

Hop into the hay pile to your left at the corner of the house and wait for Godin to get ahead of you. After he looks behind himself and then continues on his way, hop out of the hay pile and continue your slow and stealthy pursuit.

Godin makes a right turn right after passing the auction stage on the right. The area he enters is restricted and following him is a surefire way of getting caught. Instead, take the next right (the one after the stack of boxes and barrels on your right) and head to the yellow house down the lane. Hide behind it and wait for Godin to get ahead of you.

Godin makes his way through the path ahead and walks straight for the street, which happens to go right through another restricted area. Before pursuing him onto the main road, wait behind the stack of boxes to your right for him to peer back in your direction. Guards are light in this area, so you don’t have to worry too much about being spotted.

Before stepping foot onto the street, lean up against the corner of the house on your left and peek out toward Godin, who is now speaking with a man in the middle of the street.

When Godin starts walking again, that’s your cue to get moving, but instead of following him down the street in broad daylight, climb onto the roof of the building directly ahead of you.

On the roof, head toward the waypoint and look down onto the street from the roof’s left corner. Wait for Godin to leave the shack on the other side of the street, then equip your firecrackers and throw them onto the ground below.

Wait for the guards to gather and make sure you use your eagle vision to look for any others that might be patrolling toward the distraction. When the coast is clear, head to the right corner of the roof and run and jump into the bushes that are right next to the shack.

Wait for the guards to stop gawking at the firecrackers and return to their posts before moving to the waypoint. Be wary of a patrolling guard that will pop out from inside the barn on your right to take a look in your direction; he’s the one that can spot you doing your business at this point.

When you are convinced that you can get to the manifest without being spotted, make a run for it and hold the button that is displayed on the screen to swap out the manifests. Once you’ve made the change, either make a run for it, try to distract the guards, or fight your way out; whatever your choice, just get away from the restricted area and the eyes of the guards to complete the objective.

The Hard Part Is Over

Once you’ve escaped the guards, a cinematic plays. Then you are inside the Experto Crede with the task of taking out seven pirate ships. If you want to complete both Optional Objectives, you must be quick and attentive.

Your optional objectives are to sink all seven ships in six minutes and destroy all the schooners before attacking the brig. Neither of these tasks will be difficult if you know how to handle a ship. The important things to keep in mind are not wasting time by going for any cargo the schooners leave behind, using your spyglass to figure out which ships are the schooners and which is the brig, and, lastly, not being conservative with your heavy shots and your mortars.

The flotilla is divided into three groups: a group of two schooners, followed by another pair of schooners and finally, a group of two schooners and a brig. The first group is ahead of you, so feel free to completely let loose on these ships. Destroy them as quickly as you can and then make your way toward the second pair of schooners following behind them. Dismantle the second pair of schooners swiftly and then make your way toward the final group.

Aside from the time limit for completing the Optional Objective, you’ll also have to reach the brig before it destroys the friendly ship. The brig will very likely be the one closest to the friendly ship, but make sure you use your spyglass to identify the two remaining schooners before destroying them. Once you’ve finished off the last two schooners, you are awarded the “Sink the pirate schooners ...” Optional.

Now destroy the brig while avoiding damage to the friendly ship to complete the mission. If you were fast enough, you are awarded the “Destroy the pirate flotilla ...” Optional, which will give you 100 percent synchronization for this mission.

MEMORY END
