This triggers a flashback: As Nathan knows, Hector Alcazar is the infamous “Butcher of Panama,” one of the most feared drug lords in the Western Hemisphere. Watch the scene as Hector admits how Sam’s tale of Captain Henry Avery and his lost fortune “has become a sweet lullaby for me.” Suddenly, masked gunmen arrive to spring them from the cell!
Escape the Cell Block
CollectiblesNew Weapons: Aegis 9mm, MP34a, HS39 |
Follow Hector and his henchmen along the corridor and down the staircase into a security station filled with dead prison guards. Approach Hector and take the New Weapon, the Aegis 9mm pistol that he offers you. Then get ready to fight. Hector orders the entire cellblock opened, and the emergency system alarm is tripped.
Follow Hector and his men through the next doors and take cover to the left. Guards rush around the corner up ahead. Hold L2 to aim your pistol; a targeting reticule appears onscreen. Use the right stick to move the reticule over targets then pull R2 to fire. Follow Hector’s men as they push around the next corner and engage more guards. Freed prisoners start appearing too.
Head through the open gate and proceed into the open two-level cellblock where you run into pure chaos as prisoners and guards swarm the poorly lit area. Hustle to cover and start shooting. Fight your way to the exit door on the lower level, where guards make a desperate stand. If Sam gets jumped, tap
rapidly to escape. When the cellblock exit is finally cleared out, scoop up one of the New Weapons, the MP34a submachine gun and ammo on the floor. This is the only place they exist in the game. Then follow Hector into the next room.
The moment of calm doesn’t last long, as more of Hector’s helpers blast open a hole in the concrete wall. Step through the hole and sprint down the pipe-filled alley. Watch out for guards who burst through a door onto a raised balcony at the alley’s end.
Cut hard left to follow the pipeline alley. Just after you leap over a crate, a guard suddenly drops from above and shoulder-slams Sam into the wall. Rapidly tap
again to resist his chokehold until Hector returns and guns him down.
Clear Out the Laundry Room
Keep following Hector! Fight up the next staircase and through the next security gate to a balcony overlooking the prison laundry room (the “Lavanderia”). From this vantage point, start taking out the squad of guards below. When the floor area is cleared, hop down and take cover. Another big squad of guards deploys onto the upper platform. Stick to cover until their numbers are reduced, then advance across the room to take out the last few. Then wait until Hector’s men blast open another exit.
Take Out the Prison Yard Turret
Swap your MP34a for a full-sized automatic rifle like the New WeaponHS39 that Alcazar’s men drop when they are fatally wounded. Then follow Hector’s team through the blown-open doorway and rush upstairs through the next security gate to the prison yard (“Patio de la Carcel”). Hustle to the crate on the left next to the chain-link fence and pick off any remaining guards in the yard ahead, then climb over the fence, ready for mayhem.
Look out! A heavy machinegun turret opens fire from a high perch across the yard the moment you get over the fence. Its fire is highly lethal, so use the stacks of concrete blocks in the yard for cover. The turret tears apart even concrete fairly quickly, so be ready to dive to the next spot if your cover disintegrates. The machine-gunner is protected behind the gun’s shield and can’t be hit, so focus on picking off the other exposed gunmen. Target the explosive barrels at their end.
Amazingly, Hector’s prison-break team includes an RPG squad. So your objective in the prison yard is to survive until they arrive and slam three rockets into the turret tower, bringing down the machinegun and securing the yard.
Get to the Vans!
Exit the yard via the doorway to the left. Climb the stairs to trigger the explosion that blows out the barred window on the first landing. Hop out and hustle down the brick alley, shooting as you go. Hector’s rocketeers stay one step ahead of you, clearing out clusters of guards on balconies. In a moment, you reach a wall where scaffolding covers pipes. Climb the scaffold to see a fleet of getaway vans pull up next to the guard shack.
Hop down and approach the vans to trigger the chapter-ending cutscene. Hector Alcazar makes it perfectly clear what he expects from Sam, and demands a strict timetable. The scene fades back to the present—Sam finishes his story and Nathan tells him that Rafe has been digging obsessively for years around St. Dismas Cathedral in Scotland…and found nothing. But Sam has a new piece of information, giving the brothers a new destination: an exclusive black market auction at the Rossi Estate in Italy.
