Uncharted 4: A Thief's End eGuide Basics

Collectibles

There are five types of collectibles in the game: Treasures, Journal Entries, Journal Notes, Conversations, and Weapons. We have designed our walkthrough so that you can easily find all these collectibles the first time you play the Story Mode. We’ve also included a list of all these collectibles (organized by chapter) in the Extras section of this guide for those not following the walkthrough section by section.

There are 109 treasures hidden throughout the story adventure in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. If you follow our walkthrough, you will find every one of these treasures on your first trek through the game. When you get close to a treasure location, look for a glint of light reflecting off the treasure. Upon closer inspection, a treasure chest icon and a prompt appear. Press this button to acquire the treasure. Treasures can be manipulated and inspected more closely by pressing the Options button to bring up the Treasures menu.

Journal Notes

Journal Notes are letters found along your journey that are added to your Journal. Journal Notes appear with a special icon in the environment. Simply press and add it to your Journal. Press the Touch Pad to bring up the Journal and flip through the pages with the right stick.

Many notes are automatically added to your Journal along the natural course of the game. Other notes are optional and require searching. The Optional Journal Notes are tracked in the walkthrough and in the Collectibles Guide in the Extras chapter.

Journal Entries

Journal Entries are sketches and comments (some very amusing) Nathan makes in his Journal along his adventure. Journal Entries appear in the environment symbolized using a special icon. Simply press and add it to your Journal.

Many entries are automatically added to your Journal along the natural course of the game. Other entries are optional and require searching. The Optional Journal Entries are tracked in the walkthrough and in the Collectibles Guide in the Extras chapter.

Conversations

You can’t physically pick up conversations, but we’ve included them in the Collectibles section since their activation is tracked and the “Gift of Gab” trophy can be obtained by listening to all of the Optional Conversations in the game. Similar to the Journal Entries and Notes, there are many conversations in the game, but the ones that are optional must be sought after and initiated. By performing specific tasks (which we reveal in the walkthrough and the Extras chapter), you can trigger Optional Conversations with allies. Once an Optional Conversation has become active, simply walk up to the ally with the conversation bubble icon over their head and press to begin the talk.

Weapons

Of course weapons are “collected,” how else would you pick them up and shoot them? But when we refer to weapons as a collectible, we are talking about the “I Accidentally All the Weapons” trophy. This trophy requires that you use all the weapons in the game. In our walkthrough and in the Extras chapter, we have called out all the weapons the first time they become available. To earn this trophy, you must shoot every firearm in this game. You can simply fire off a round in the air—you do not need to kill anyone. However, with the explosives (propane tank and powder barrel), you must either pick it up and melee someone with it or throw it and shoot it, killing an enemy with its explosion.

Trophies

We’ve treated many trophies in the walkthrough as collectibles. The trophies that are chapter-specific have been highlighted in the walkthrough and in the Collectibles Guide in the Extras chapter. Most of these highlighted trophies can only be earned while in a specific level. Others are natural occurrences if you are collecting everything. For example, if you collect the first Journal Entry, you will automatically earn the “Jot This Down” trophy. A complete list of Trophies (with tips) is included in the Extras chapter as well.
